Alot of the complaints I never really understood, like session automation, curves, things like that. I do get complaining about the PDC though since it can really affect time based vsts, but as you said its not really broken.
For me the only thing I want them to fix/improve is the new browser. All of the other complaints Ive seen dont really affect a user as much day to day as the new browser does since you use that every single time you use the program.
While I wish they would have invested in a real database solution instead of the half-assed thing they put out, they could at least improve it by just allowing the customer to actually customize it to their use.
Allow the user to specify categories, organization, what is shown, what is hidden, etc. Right now its very rigidly defined to what ableton says and the user has no real customization options other than to go in and start modifying an xml file thats hidden away in an attempt to actually make it customizable. They even removed usability by just removing quick shortcuts to the file system and the ability to follow symlinks in their 'indexed' directories, destroying the setup alot of users had for samples
Its also very interesting in how the new browser comes across. For the majority of people out there you will see when they first try it, they love it. They say how much faster, organized, easy to use it is than the old browser. However you give them two weeks and they all start coming back saying they realized what an uncustomizable pita it is. Thats why all the reviews love it, because they didnt really try it for a week or two. When you have to actually wait to index a 2TB drive just to be able to use anything on it, which could take hours, something is messed up somewhere in the design
</browser rant>
TLDR; browser should be improved

Why people keep quoting logic price?
It's not a fair comparision at all, it's subsidized by apple the richest company in the world, it's practically dumping to hurt competition.

Yep, go Live go. Running like a charm. Only bug over here is a strange crash that happens sometimes after freezing and then flattening a track. Really weird, because once I reload the set, it will always crash when attempting another "flatten". Maybe it's because my HD is just about full and I REALLY should defragment it.hibidy wrote:
Um, live 9, yeah, I have issues but I STILL use it everyday!
Now let's get back to snide snivelling.

I dunno about snide sniveling, but my greatest issue is a bug I found when it was "beta"
Which is under "some" circumstances, I cannot use "rename/tab" etc. VERY annoying! I still can't.
It's a bummer as I cannot easily and efficiently rename a set
It was an acknowledged bug and it's unchanged
That and they changed their "session" drums to where snare/etc is no longer grouped properly.
Eliminate these two issues and I'm a more happy camper. But alas.........

Oh, haven't encountered that. What do you mean by rename/tab etc.? Do you mean that those don't work at all? That would indeed be incredibly annoying.hibidy wrote: Which is under "some" circumstances, I cannot use "rename/tab" etc. VERY annoying! On my system, with my controller, if you do "rename" (with tab making the next track renamable) it doesn't work. I just goes dead, leaving you to rename every track with a vst in it separate
I have an impulse 49 apparently that is part of the problem (though even with it dissengauged, I have the issue win7x64)

Hey, I didn't even know you could do that.hibidy wrote:On my system, with my controller, if you do "rename" (with tab making the next track renamable) it doesn't work. That's very practical, although I always rename my tracks as soon as I add one.
You'd think these are the kind of bugs that'd be easy to fix.

Not me. I left Live through lack of session automation (mainly) and now I'm back because of it (partly) but I have nothing else to complain about. I don't really care about PDC personally so right now Live is working as I wanted it to do when I first bought it. Even the browser is fine now that I understand it.pdxindy wrote:All the people who complained so much about the lack of session view automation, you hardly hear any mention of how useful they are finding it now that they are making use of it. The complaints just shift elsewhere.

Temp lock while the distraction gets split off.
[edit] Done. As I said in the split part of the thread:
I hope I got most or all of the thread derailment. Some posts contain both Kindergartenklopperei and valid points; sadly the former ruined the latter, so those posts [were split off] as well. That's a drawback of bringing personal disputes into a discussion of software and music-making. It would be far better to take the interpersonal stuff to PMs or email and leave the discussion undamaged.
Now PLEASE concentrate on discussing the software, not what you think of each other. Those not involved in such disputes, kindly don't throw gasoline on the flames lest you get burned too. Thanks.

I like to make templates and then rename them later. But yea, renaming as I go is kinda necessary now.ariston wrote:Hey, I didn't even know you could do that.hibidy wrote:On my system, with my controller, if you do "rename" (with tab making the next track renamable) it doesn't work.
