DrMr LV2 aint bad for loading Hydrogen samples/drum kits either just as long as they are not over 16 instruments/drums in one or the gui gets in the way .

Wouldn't highlife be better for this?

Finally had the chance to hear your stuff, pretty cool.

Nice ones for you too Jeff.

Still havent tried Ardour 3, I will wait to see it on the next Ubuntu.

Hey Jeff, you still here ? I've got a package for you. Had to send the review in early but I can still send it to you too if you want to look it over. I might have some time to edit any fouls, hopefully it's in readable condition as-is.

PM me if you're still around.

Sorry, I'm still around, just working hard on the next major release of PyDAW... In fact, it's coming along very nicely already, I think this release will really put PyDAW over the top as a DAW worthy of leaving Windows for... at least for electronic music...

...BTW I PM'd you :D

It is not audio but it is of interest for many so...

Lightworks' Linux Beta Gets April Release Date

Keeping this thread alive:

I took my pseudo-trance loop and added an algorithmically-produced lead made with AVSynthesis, a sort of demented synth solo. Nothing to get excited about, but possibly fun.

I got really cool Dave (soundcloud account, or anyplace we can follow you )! BTW I think you really may like this bit..

Not a host but...

The problem with Linux is that I always try it on old, junky computers... so I see it as old and junky... I always loose the startbar or the volume mixer gets stuck and immovable...

I keep music here :

Other incidental stuff is scattered through 14 years worth of articles on Linux audio.

Whoa, nice catch ! I just noticed the announcement here on KVR, this is the first I've heard of the thing. It's no PyDAW but it still looks pretty cool. ;) I'll give the demo a spin later today. Have you tried it yet ?

Btw, thanks too for the note on Lightworks. It's been getting a lot of press recently, but I think it's software that's 'way more than I need, i.e. it looks pretty "pro" oriented. Outside of AVSynthesis, my video and graphics needs are mighty minimal. :)

@Dave: I love it, nice elements of ambient psytrance, with the rhythm overload of drum-funk DnB... It really sounds like you had a lot of fun making it...

I used to love this plugin on Windows, instant glitch-core music at the press of a button... Unfortunately everybody seems to be indicating that it crashes most(all?) of the LinuxVST hosts... Logically one would blame that on Glitch, but I was once in the same boat of "yer plugins crash every Linux host, fix 'em!!!", so I'm going go out on a limb and say that it could actually still be (all of) the host's fault...

I've been crusading against people using old computers for Linux (and especially audio) forever. Windows audio people have been seeking powerful hardware to do their audio work since the 90s, Linux audio isn't going to be able to accomplish the same thing as Windows when running it on a 10 y/o CPU, hence I recommend a quad-core, same thing I'd recommend to an aspiring Windows audio PC builder...

Awwww.. Shucks... You're making me blush :D

Hello, everyone

I make music in Ubuntu Linux, running REAPER under WINE, and using various free and commercial plug-ins.

A few short musical sketches can be heard here:

Tons of fun. As a wee lad my first instrument was a drum set. As a not-so-wee lad now I get a little carried away with the possibilities of rhythm loops and modern sequencers.

I refer to myself as a recovering drummer. You're never really over it, but it's one day at a time... fifty years later, still one day at a time...

Btw, after the 11th the article will be publicly viewable on LWN. I'll post a link.

Thanks for sharing your excellent music !

Would you mind if I borrowed some parts of those tracks ? I want Geist to go on longer. :)
