It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

Check out Acid Voice:
http://www.acidvoice.com/
Lots of audio examples of virtual instruments vs. the real thing vs. the various clones that have been built over the years. Should tell you exactly what you need to know.
Software: my vote goes to D16 Phosycon but it depends which sound you want to reproduce. I think some people prefer ABL Pro for bass.
Also checkout D16 LuSH-101 for screaming acid leads.
Peace,
Andy.

If you asked 3 days ago, I would say audio realism ABL 2... http://www.audiorealism.se/abl/abl2_announcement.htm
But now, I can't wait to get my hands on one of these...

There is a long thread in the hardware forum, definitely worth looking at.
But for now, ABL2 keeps me happy...

Phoscyon and ABL Pro are pretty much agreed upon as the best at the moment.
Silverbox is a nice one too, very quick and easy to program and sounds great.

I've been watching the ABL2 for about a year now (none of my projects have needed TB-303 emulator). The ability to learn patterns is unique to this plug (see their "advanced pattern analyzer"). As a classically trained pianist, my brain doesn't always find the step-sequencer inviting and would much rather play a pattern. This solves that problem and makes things much quicker in my experience. Besides, their emulation is spot-on.
It's the music that makes the science worthwhile.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

I would suggest Venom VB-303, if it was clear whether it gets released one day or not... when you don't have patience, and can't be bothered to wait until 2015, i'd recommend looking for something else though.

But it will be worth it...chk071 wrote:I would suggest Venom VB-303, if it was clear whether it gets released one day or not... when you don't have patience, and can't be bothered to wait until 2015, i'd recommend looking for something else though.
