I'm personally pissed off and annoyed that you would ever say such a thing. I demand you take it back!hibidy wrote:not looking forward to 12 more pages of this

Good job you won't get it from me thenhibidy wrote:not looking forward to 12 more pages of this
I think it's great when there's a focus on plugins doing basics well. My personal preference is towards more flexible features, but I'd much rather have the basics done really well first because I think they matter more for many types of electronic music. Get solid foundations before you build the rest of the house. For some people, subjectively, those foundations have been good enough for the last decade. For others that's only started to become more true in recent times. Neither set of views need be "wrong".. we all have our own personal preferences.
NI's cash cows aren't these sorts of products anyway, so Monark needs all the love it can get if we're going to see more things along these lines from them. If many feel there's nothing special here then I'm good with that opinion too. It's almost to be expected even, given Monark's limits in this day and age. But those saying "x plugin does everything Monark does"? (not necessarily in this thread specifically) I think that's often plain untrue. With additional processing, sure. But that kinda misses the point, IMO, which is to put something in front of you which doesn't necessarily "need" compression or other shaping to get the results some people want, and often pay far too much money for, in hardware, just to try to get more easily.
It doesn't mean someone doesn't have the right to an opinion when they say "ProductX can do all this" and someone challenges that view. For the person
who wrote that view it may be perfectly true. But some people have a different perspective, and they're not being unreasonable if they ask others to show why they reached those conclusions and expect more than just words in response.
Unless someone's in the habit of changing their thinking just because someone disagrees? If that's the case then maybe they have a good future ahead in politics
I'm of the opinion that some of the differences aren't unimportant in Monark. I think they matter a fair amount, and only wish it hadn't taken this long until stuff like it, Uno LX, and several others had appeared.

Speaking of which...........aaaahhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm

I'd expect to have AT LEAST 5 answers telling me how wrong I amhibidy wrote:Just a question, has anyone else had issues with the controls? Like switches being hard to grab and drag to the desired setting? They seem kinda stiff and hard to switch.

Will 1 do? Haven't noticed a problem here. You're using a mouse on the interface and sometimes it doesn't respond well?hibidy wrote:Speaking of which...........aaaahhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmI'd expect to have AT LEAST 5 answers telling me how wrong I amhibidy wrote:Just a question, has anyone else had issues with the controls? The controls report a supported resolution of 1 million points, which is approx 20 bit resolution. Whether Reaktor/Monark responds internally to higher I can't remember, but you can access those finer resolutions easily with any automation based hardware controller.
Plugins often don't have that good of a resolution through the GUI. Reaktor 5.8 added a control specifically for adjusting the mouse fine-tuning I think, so you might want to search Google for how to do that. I'm using a hardware controller for it, personally

I guess you can change the mouse resolution for the switches and save the ensemble (if you have the full reaktor of course).hibidy wrote:Speaking of which...........aaaahhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm

Yeah, I have the full version, thank for the tip. And thanks for the responses you guys. I have a ton of NI products and I don't remember having this issue before (doesn't mean I haven't, I just don't remember

Really only a small part of it.
The Osc's are decent, but so is Diva's moog.
Whilst I think Diva sounds great, Monark has the edge on Moog sounds for me - probably because they modelled the whole synth and not just parts.
As has been mentioned, the feedback/saturation/modelling give Monark an edge/bite in it's sound, which I like and which I don't think Diva has (yet). Hopefully this will spur U-he on.
However, Diva still has a lot more to it, and the new digital OSCs and Uhbie filter break new ground for me! Amazing.

Sure, why not? - We're having a short break now and then we'll think about all that overload and multidrive stuff that's been cropping up lately. We've been faithful to Hans Zimmer's Minimoog, but there are others and I somehow feel we're going to get to check some out soonishly._leras wrote:As has been mentioned, the feedback/saturation/modelling give Monark an edge/bite in it's sound, which I like and which I don't think Diva has (yet). Diva is a much more attractive prospect over all - but rather than further efforts towards Moog - I and others I think would love to see a Prophet Oscillator - something a bit warmer for poly synth duties...Im concerned this Monark pretender might be too influential...Urs wrote:Sure, why not? - We're having a short break now and then we'll think about all that overload and multidrive stuff that's been cropping up lately. With Sascha now onboard, all that saturation/distortion/drive stuff is really gonna kick some ass !Urs wrote:Sure, why not? - We're having a short break now and then we'll think about all that overload and multidrive stuff that's been cropping up lately. tbh if you was to open a poll right now in u-he forum between prophet 5 oscillators and multidrive feautures i'm not sure you'd be able to find many of those "others" you talk about ;P (although if u proposed also a recreaton of the p5 filter u might indeed just scrape it)analoguesamples909 wrote:I and others I think would love to see a Prophet Oscillator - something a bit warmer for poly synth duties...Im concerned this Monark pretender might be too influential...
the hype with overload/feedback drive has not really started with monark...but at least since the first videos of the subphatty last year. and before that there was a lot of hype on the minibrute drive features too. monark showed in software that is indeed a cool feature and would be shortsighted just to ignore it.
what would be cool is if in diva it could be used across the board with all modules and filter types...although that might be too much of a mammouth job and even for me there are some other priorities right now(exp improved FM).

dammm I m still fighting with myself not to buy diva but the voices in my head keep telling me...and with the upcoming new filters & virtual digital Osc s and maybe a saturation/feedback/ modeling is getting harder to resist
the voices are getting louder and louder!!!!!
