Me included. :D

"Can't see prices of the original going down in price" Yeh right!
I'm not so sure TBH.
The original will always be the original.

There are many people out there (myself included) where second best simply won't do.
The mini has many many advantages but it still isn't an original.

Similar analogy exists with classic cars. New ones are infinitely better, but they're just not as desirable as old broken ones.

Art isn't useful?

You can certainly enjoy the arty farty aesthetics of a broken car, but the rest of us will make sweet music on the MS20 Mini (also admiring its diminutive but imposing stature in all its artful glory). :D

To be fair, you and Krim are placing too much emphasis on the broken.
I initially ended that sentence with "old one", but in a moment of reflection and annoyance with my own classic and broken cars I added the "broken" ;)

The analogy is false anyway. It is like they copied an oldtimer car, not built a modern car.

Fiat 500, Mustang, Mercedes SLS, Camaro, Mini... Etc etc etc.

The difference is that those are remakes, not copies of the old thing. In other words, superior technology. :P

OK, so let's be fair. :D

You have an old classic car in pristine condition which you just love the look of. You admire it, but never dare to drive it. It might break down.

We, on the other hand, have a brand new synth - which brings back the sound and functionality of a vintage classic. We can use it and abuse it, in the studio or live. It only costs £500 after all - and not the sub £1300 second hand price of the moment. More importantly, we can create art with it. Not just stare at it.
