LIVE 9 Audio/Midi automation in clip mode question. *Solved*

I am wondering if I can do the following ?

In Clip mode I would like to load a Midi track with a multi-out instrument like a drum machine for example, and then send the Bass Drum, Snare etc all to their own audio track in lives mixer. For an example I am using D16 Drumazon and sending all the drumazon sounds to their own mono channel in live.

Now that I have them all on their own audio channel. I have a ton of effects on each channel to customize my sound with automation like bit crushers, eq etc.

I would like each audio track to have some sort of control clip that lets me control each effect devices that I have on each audio channel just like you can do with midi.

I can't seem to create a Midi track to control my audio track devices with midi and this is exactly what I would like! It would making recording automations to arrange mode so much easier than doing it manually.

It would also be great to have midi clips for doing rythymic changes with effects on audio and having them recorded when I record to arrange mode. Furthermore this kind of thing would be outstanding when doing live stuff.

Does it seem like overkill?

If there is a way to do this I would be absolutely in heaven! I always work in the clip launch mode making my loops until I am ready to record and then once im done a mix I finish the track in arrange mode.

This method might already be in live, but I can't find it!

I know once the tracks have been laid down in arrange mode I can go in and start applying automations to each effect but what I want is to do it in clip mode! It would be a huge time saver..

You can record or manually edit automation in either session view or arrange view for any effect. What's the problem?

Maybe I did'nt make my description of the problem very clear. I am wanting to have live loop based automation clips for the effects on my audio channels.

Oh ok. "Loop based automation clips." There are workarounds.

You could slow down the tempo and record your knobs to your hearts content to get the timing right. I believe you can copy and paste automation (not a big automation user myself, more of a keyboard player)

I know you can unlink automation within a clip if that makes sense to you.

I figured it out.

If anyone is interested I can try to explain what I did.

1. First off you need to create "Blank" audio clips of whatever length of loop you want into the audio channels.

So what I did is got a calculator to help me figure out how many seconds of time I needed for my bars.

http://www.bandcoach.org/calculators/timeCalc.html

After I got the amount of time needed for my "Empty" Clips that i wanted I went and got Audacity.

I used the Generate function using the "silence" function and created my 4 bar clip. I then loaded it into Lives audio clip area.

Now to make sure no audio gets sent into my mixer I lowered the volume in the clip just as a precaution.

Now with the clip in place I added my effects onto the track and rerouted the audio from my drum machine into the track like i tried before. With the audio clips in place it finally lets me automate my effects like I wanted using the blank audio clips!!!

Now I can route the audio out in Drumazon and automate effects on each channel like i wanted all while in clip mode.

;)

Here are pictures of what I did to help give an idea.

The 4bar.wav file is muted but it still gives me the 4 bars to send automation codes to Devastor and Decimort which is what I wanted to do all along!

Hopefully this all makes sense!

So far this is working really well for me. IF anyone wants a video tutorial of what I did I can make one.

A quick note, the length of the audio shouldn't matter as you can unlink the envelopes' lengths from the audio clip itself and do that independently for each automation lane.
