No offense to anybody but I move to move this thread to OT.
It's been spammed into submission by cat pics to the point that the information that is in here is completely buried. I shared the humor somewhat for the phase when it was all speculation and what-ifs, but with Bitwig at Musikmesse and more actual information trickling out, there's legitimate interest and legitimate information to be shared.
If there's a tacit agreement among mods that this volume of spam is to be tolerated in this particular thread (it's obviously too late to change that), I kindly ask that they draw the consequences and move it to OT, if only so as not to confuse people into posting actual information here. There's something tragic about the 'better' Bitwig thread being at the Ableton forums. If this thread is the place for this high percentage of cat pics, then it shouldn't be in Hosts.
And whoever is next with news, please make a new thread.

GIGA FACEPALM!!!!!!!!!!!!
I told you guys over and over, the thread was started as a joke thread. I was never intended to be serious. There are other more serious threads that nobody even post in. Why not dig one of those up, or start another one. I don't even post in them
Anyways, yeah, move it to HPC then it can eventually die. The whining from people is excruciating.

I'm just giving you some information. Would you like a history lesson? Ok. First, there have been MANY bitwig threads. With one exception, they have all devolved into cat pics. The one before this was locked. Machinesworking started this thread mostly as a counter strike. The original title (which has been changed by meffy and machinesworking more than once) was "bitwig studio, without cats". Well, as you can see, people were having none of thatwasi wrote:lol, I don't get it. You didn't start this thread...? It was started because the other BW thread got suffocated by... let me check... cat pics.
Now that we are caught up, I'll ask again, WHY wouldn't people just use that one thread started by a disgruntled bitwig "enthusiast" instead of this? Seem appropriate for the title. But yeah, it's run it's course, move it. Fair enough to me.

Seriously dude, do a search, resurrect that thread. I don't think it had any cat pics. The product has enough information about it that it deserves a more "serious" thread. Why people are posting here is beyond my comprehension.

Isn't it down to the fact that this organization, Bitwig, is responsible for their own derision? Announcing software years in advance of readiness has turned out to be an unwise decision, rather worthy of joking by the public.hibidy wrote:Seriously dude, do a search, resurrect that thread. I would really like to see a true Bitwig release? Didn't we all sign up for the Beta? I tried. How long ago was that, 2 years ago?
That any thread with their name in it devolves into jokes about cats is quite understandable, I would think - without any hard evidence of something being available to the public.
Imagine if it were Apple or M$ announcing software 2 years in advance or more of actual release. And then........Nothing. They would become a laughingstock. Such seems to be the case here.
I honestly hope they have a product. I think the DAW world needs healthy competition to drive innovation and value. However, these folks with their tease of the public and lack of delivery have brought this on themselves.
That's just my non-cat-picture opinion.

I think Bitwig really does equal CATS!!
Seriously, Bitwig could be a really cool program but after years of seeing threads coming up with REAL SOON NOW...is getting boring.

Not sure why people are taking offense at the harmless cat jokes.
The fact of the matter is that they suggested to the media "later this year" last January... some 15-16 months ago... with no imminent release in sight yet ... and apparently some of the announced v1 features still not working in the beta according to the latest video.
Meow...
I'm more curious how they can attend multiple trade shows while not selling anything. IIRC, those booths are rather expensive. They must have pretty good funding.
Product looks great to me, but they brought the jokes on themselves by running such a long pre-release marketing campaign.
Now they're saying "later this year" again, over a year later. Of course some people will become impatient after waiting so long, and have a bit of fun with it.Friday, 20 January 2012: BitWig will launch their debut venture, BitWig Studio, later this year.
