Hi guys

I have a question that i'm having a hard time getting an answer to.

I have this mixer for my condenser mic and i'd like to operate it at its full 48V, but the Xenyx only provides 15V phantom power since it's USB powered. If I add an external 48V phantom power supply, will this bring it up to 48V or will it add to the 15V and result in 63V and will that be too much?

Thanks if you can help.

Since the original power supply is 5V, I would not risk that at all. You're then feeding it 10x the designed voltage.

If you connect it to a 48V power supply, either one of the following will happen:

1) the unit will blow up some silly component, rendering it useless.
2) the unit is protected against too high voltages and still feeds 15V phantom power to the mic

So better look for a mic preamp (or small mixer) that does deliver 48V phantom power.
