Proteus VX and Windows 7 64 bit

Has anyone tried running Proteus VX under Windows 7 (32 or 64) bit? I loaded it into Windows 7 64 bit and it loaded ok, but will not recognize any of the bank files. When trying to load a bank file, a window appears saying that the bank file is not a valid sound bank. Has anyone else tried this?
FWIW, Forte, Ehco, FM8, PRO-53, B4 II, Kore Player, and TruePianos all seem to work ok with Windows 7 64bit. Haven't tried Win 7 32 bit.

Hi!
I had also the same problem. Here the solution:
Set the ProteusVX executable to Windows XP compatibility mode (right-click on the Proteus icon, Properties, Compatibility). Then it should work as stand-alone application and VSTi plugin.

You have to set it to run as admin also.johnny_mendes wrote:Hi!

FWIW... changing compatibility mode to XP SP2 and checking "run as administrator" (for the ProteusVX.exe file) got it going here! Thanks, all!

Has anyone got this to load purchased sound banks on windows 7 yet...
I've got it working in 64 bit windows 7 and I've rescanned the libary but when ever I load one of the samples from the sample sets it cant find the sample. The option to load the sound set is availble.
I tried installing the sound sets the same way as the vx software too, still no joy.

Seeing the age of this thread, and the problems Proteus VX has with running on later OS platforms, it's pretty weird that latest news on VST Planet is Proteus VX.
If I didn't know better I would think that this was a new release, and not a four and a half year old one...

i'll tell you what though. once you figure out how to get it running (i even have it running in reaper 64 in windows 8 now), this is an incredible vst. it is hard to believe that they are giving this away.Numanoid wrote:Seeing the age of this thread, and the problems Proteus VX has with running on later OS platforms, it's pretty weird that latest news on VST Planet (http://vstplanet.com/News/2013/Proteus_VX.htm) is Proteus VX.

----------How to load the default sound set from within reaper.
I think I may have found a solution to this problem.
I also couldnt get the sounds to load when I used proteus VX from within reaper. Im
running windows 7 64 bit mode.
Here is what I did that worked:
0. I started my DAW in normal problem mode (not administrator).
1. From an instance of Proteus VX, click on the library tab at the bottom of the
lefthand side panel.
2. move the proteus XV panel to one side to reveal a window underneath saying "The
library has not been initialized" Click YES.
3. a screen will then pop up with search directories in it. This will also appear
behind the Proteus panel. If you dont see it then simply click the Proteus panel.
Click the UPDATE button. Proteus will then search all your drives looking for sound
sets to put in your library. It will find the default sound set too.
4. When this is complete a list should appear in the LHS margin.
5. find the default sound set, right click on it and click OPEN and the sampler will
be loaded.
6. exit Reaper (or your DAW) and the sound set will be loaded again each time you
open the DAW.
7. repeat the process to load the library each time. You can change the search
parameters to suit.
Have fun....
You dont need to run in administrator mode or run as XT etc...

The simple solution is this.
Start the standalone version with run as administrator (no need for compatibility mode) and then go to library tab and point it o your libraries. After the scan is complete the VSTi should work fine.
