Everybody who feels the same, please join me in asking for a removal of this restriction, maybe antto can be swayed if only enough people ask and implore him to do it

i wanted to release it "as is" as soon as possible, because i have to do other not so pleasent things..toitoi wrote:That's insane!:x In Reaper you have to unlock "midi mode" EVERY time the plugin window loses focus while you switch through the DAW windows. I'm sorry to say that, but some times Venom makes me think that it would better leave a vaporware than released in this form. All this "encouraging people" is good in some point but not this way. What's the motive to make life harder than it is already?
if you don't like it - leave it, what can i say
i didn't come here to give you the one and only 303 plugin, it's just "another one"
there are plenty of alternatives, both software and hardware
this project was very special for me, it went up and down again and again
i'm not a real developer, i didn't want to go this far..
i did what no one else would have done, attempt to recreate the 303 sequencer, even if that is the most stupid idea, given that it's a VST plugin after all
there is an additional complication with the buttonmapping which is the only thing required to be able to press multiple buttons simultaneously, and you really only have to learn 11 buttons (or less)
there is also the other thing, the different workflow, because using this thing in your DAW isn't like using your other plugins which are "convenient"
this thing isn't convenient, i know this fairly well
but my goal wasn't to make the most convenient/bestest 303 plugin
when the TB-303 was released - it didn't had midi
the guys who made it popular also didn't do it by using it via midi
and if you want to throw away the internal sequencer and use it via midi - then why do you even need the authentic sound?
sorry if this is too harsh, that's how i feel right now
PS: it's not directed specifically at you, toitoi
It doesn't matter how it sounds..

no offence mate, but devs at Audiorealism managed to make Bassline's totally operable without midi keyboard, in both midi and step sequencer modes.
this is a vsti, it's 2013, why are you so stubborn - just make the midi switch an easy option, or at least make it so the plugin would remember that it was already unlocked - ffs, this is ridiculous that people here have to unlock that several times. "change the way your daw works" - NO, it's your plugin that misbehaves, it's not the daws that need changes.
I don't really care for this, as I'm not gonna use this plugin. neither the tiny gui nor no 64bit version are welcoming, but for other users sake - 10 pages filled with posts where 80% of them are about the inability to unlock a feature should make you really reconsider some things.
sound quality, though most important, is not everything.

i think the 303 deserves to have it's original sequencer, even if only 10% of these people will appreciate it
i don't want to argue
i took this road, there's no turning back now
take it while it's here, who knows what happens when Roland see it

HOORAY! HOORAY! HOORAY!
Greatest news Ive had in a while
Congratulations antto! Your hard work is beyond much-appreciated, its life-changing
At least for me
I think, without a sequencer, and specifically a sequencer designed like the original 303's, it just doesnt have the same attraction. There's a ton of different ones out there without sequencers, not all of them sound bad either. But they only provide half the fun! And the ones that do have sequencers; Phoscyon is awkward and cant MIDI map, and while ABL2 allows sequence editing from MIDI I think it sounds plastic-y as so much software does (all too often they're not free software either, Arturia Im looking your way). Venom is a dream come true for someone like me who has waited so long for an emulation that gets everything right.
The only trouble is i keep getting told the bandwidth limit has been reached, is there any other links? Ill keep reloading the Box.com link if i have to. Ive waited this long

This thing is unusable. UNUSABLE. Abl2 and phosycon rip you a new one. Did you ever think that maybe the interface blows? Check out your reviews on bedroom producers blog. And synth edit? I don't know why I expected shit.
Step up your ****ing game.

You'll probably get slated for that, because so many like to be spoon fed easy stuff nowadays. But I congratulate you. It never killed any of us to use a few brain cells and learn how to sequence 303s/202s and all kinds of other weird shit, so it's not going to kill anyone now either. You coded what you wanted to code and don't even charge for it, so people get some perspective here. Let's just remind people this is a 303 emu. It's how 303s work. Thankyou for releasing it Antto. Thankyou for releasing it as is.

I disagree that the plugin is useless. Using the built-in sequencer in "internal" and "host sync" mode it seems to work fine. Just in MIDI play mode it is difficult to use.
I currently have two solutions for that problem:
1.) Try to use MIDI play as it is using the unlock code
2.) Use D16 Phoscyon (which i got too) in cases Venom is too difficult to use
In terms of sound Venom seems to be one of the best emulations IMO, especially when the Distortion FX is added.
