if you want to put PW/PD/FM then why do you need the rest of the thing? use another synth
i made it tweakable, you can find the trimpots which are present in the real thing (TM3 to 5) as well as some additional mods like the resoboost
beta1/2 don't have midiplay mode
the randomization (aka pattern manipulators) were disabled due to a recent discovery as i've explained in the other thread, basically my original design was all about "preserving the spare notes" and everything worked nice
till i figured i did it all wrong and it broke the 303 pattern buffer behaviour
so i had to rewrite some of the fundamental stuff which basically broke the manipulators, so i disabled them
i'll have to rewrite them, YET again, for the Nth time

Will you add an easy midi play or not?

The additional trimpots are really welcome, Antto, yeah, just like the "borg" or "devilfish" mods to the "real thing".
I think Antto said "no" to the easy MIDI play just a post or two before, Wildfunk. Why pushing it?

Can you elaborate on that? You mean like the sem or sumthin'?antto wrote:i don't think i'll be putting another osc, the square wave is very expensive

Would you allow someone else to do another GUI for it? Is that something a SE master could do..?antto wrote:the GUI is not gonna be any bigger
Either way you saved me about 2000 bux on real one Antto!!!
Thanks again!

Because the actual version is completely unusable.DuX wrote:I think Antto said "no" to the easy MIDI play just a post or two before, Wildfunk. Why pushing it?

If you are using Reaper, check in settings: "Don't flush synthesizer plug-ins on stop"Wildfunk wrote:Because the actual version is completely unusable.DuX wrote:I think Antto said "no" to the easy MIDI play just a post or two before, Wildfunk. Why pushing it?
If your DAW does not have such an option, you're gonna have to learn the venom sequencer

Try a 22" display with 1920x1080 HD resolution, sit back 1 1/2 metres, and try to read the labels. Impossible.
I do understand though that antto won't change it, and it is ok. Still pretty tiny compared to nowadays' standards.

If you're sitting at 1,5 meters from your screen, I bet there's a lot of stuff you cant read on there
esp at that resolution on just a 22"... Thats actually the reason I did not buy a full hd monitor in my studio, because things are shown larger on non-hd monitors and theres a huge mixing desk in between me and the screen
Now I'm viewing it at a normal distance on 27 inch with 2560x1440 resolution, its fine here
Anyhow, I bet after 2 hours of playing with it, you will remember which button does what forever...

But this doesn't help either - you have to enter the digits everytime you're loading a song.rv0 wrote:If you are using Reaper, check in settings: "Don't flush synthesizer plug-ins on stop"

It's not the same as programming a real hardware.
The way you interact with hardware does not that easily work on the screen, you simply don't have that level feedback from the screen interface, of course if it's not a touch screen or an appropriate controller. I heard, programming 303 with real buttons is hard but programming Venom through a computer keyboard is a torture.
And I honestly, enjoy programming sequences somehow. Don't now why

There is a great 303 tutorial here http://www.tinyloops.com/tb303/index.html
Highly recommended.

As far as the monitors goes, you people who bought 22" monitors with 1920 resolution have been fuc*** up nicely. On a 22", nothing beyond 1680 looks good. If you want 1920 resolutions, you should go for 27". It's as simple as that. Then Venom will look normal to you.
I would never, ever, buy a 22" monitor with a 1920 resolution. fuuuuc* You have to look at it with a looking-glass to see things clearly. Only 27" or more can get away with that kind of resolution. If you do decide to buy a small monitor with 1920 resolution then it's your problem, sorry. You've been nicely fuc*** by the marketing up your nice bloody stupid ars*.
22" - 1680 max width
24" - 1920 max [but it still feels on the small side]
27" - 1920 max
30" - 1920 or more max width to feel comfortable looking at your DAW and plugins.
keep it in mind and *get informed before you buy your shit*. The problem is *you* not the developers. If you buy a 19" monitor with the 1920 resolution, you've just made one of the biggest mistakes in your life. Live with it.
About "torture". Everything is a torture before you try it for a 100th time. Then it becomes the part of you, and your work. Programming a real TB felt like a torture, and I think programming VB-303 is easier than the real thing. What are you complaining about? Give it a go. Give it few hours, learn how to program it, enjoy it. If you're suffering from ADD like the 70% of human kind, go to your doctor, don't post here.
Creativity is all about having it the "hard way", baby.
Otherwise you don't enjoy it, you don't appreciate it.

No need to get angry friend, the reason i bought my 22" was simply due to lack of space for a larger display.
And tbh, everything below 1920 reso makes no sense anymore nowadays everything is optimized for HD resolutions. Actually the 22" is pretty ok for games and stuff like that, it's just that the pixels are a bit tiny for reading stuff. But then, most stuff is actually readable if it is not too tiny, like Venom's GUI. But yeah, next time i would probably grab a 24" display. Just not sure if it fits on my table... it is all pretty narrow already here.

I've got the same problem, my friend. I don't care about monitors too much, and certainly not about having 2 of them [!!!!], just one. So I've chosen a 22" one, but 1680 width because I realised I couldn't see shit on a 22" 1920 one.
It's the companies who make monitors to blame, of course, but so many people are uninformed of the state of things, and they just buy the cheap 22" with 1920 resolution. I say, let them have it. You bought it, you have it... I always tell everybody "buy a 1680 22" monitor" if you need a cheap monitor.
but you know people... "I have to have the biggest and baddest" at cheap price...
Well, the biggest and baddest comes at a bigger price, sorry. It's capitalism, still. Need 1920? Buy a 24" up monitor, simple. I'm very satisfied with a 22" 1680 one, until I can afford a 30" 1920 one with this good screen and viewing angles.
but you know people... "I have to have the biggest and baddest" at cheap price...
