Thank you for your generosity :)
Likewise

Which version of w7-64 do you have, and did you do any modifications to your admin rights?

Did anyone figure out what to do about the aams.ini corrupted issue?

Can't get the thing started here and tried some of the tips for granting admin rigths, but no luck.

The program will not work on Win 7 Home Premium. FWIW, I too have the same trouble on the same OS as you.

Update: After I followed one of the links for taking full rights on Windows, I suddenly realized that I now don't just have my usual admin login, but also one called "Administrator". Logged in with that, and suddenly managed to run AAMS. It does however come with an I/O error when trying to load files, prolly cause I'm working 48 kHz resolution. Not very convenient to change into another account, but at least there's a way now..

Well I know the more experienced users figured it out long before installing AAMS and likewise software that came from Windows XP or even older windows versions.

The Admin Rights have been changed on Vista W7 and W8, so better read how to be the Administrator on your computer and take control. Else Windows will warn you every single time you install strange software ? I do not know why Microsoft did the heavy Admin rights change, but it bothers a lot of software writers in the field, they get complaints about their software not running..

So as the other users did say before ? Not installing or not running ?
Be sure your not having the Windows Home Version... gggg
And be sure to have your Admin rights fixed and be the Admin, instead of being a user that cant Admin their own comp.

Have fun! :) :o :-o :?:

For users that have IO errors...

Use WAV 16bit or 32Bit Float.
44.1Khz only.
Stereo Files Only.

And be sure to have a normal playtime of the file you put in as source.
About 5-10 Minutes. Max 10-15 minutes.

And you will have no IO errors following these rules.

=======================================================================

Else you could use AAMS Tools Tab to fix the WAV to the right format.
Else you could just save in the right format.
Else you could always use an audio editor (alike Wavelab) to the right format.

Have fun!

I'm on home Premium, but after all got it working as mentioned in prev post :)

I totally follow you on what you're saying about Windows, but I went straight to this version of Win7 from XP, and just chose to live with all the abnormities that came with it, since alot of things improved as well. I do get funny popups when running programs, but easily got used to it.
And despite the problems I have with AAMS, I do want to emphasize that it's a great initiative you've taken with this software - obviously one can't demand anything when it's free. My frustration is simply because I was so curious to try it. I may look into how I can change my rights under my standard admin account in order to launch it.

Thanks!

I agree, haste is one of the main factors of confusion.

I have Win 7 Home Premium and was getting the aams ini. corrupted message. I used the method suggested for Win 7 Home Premium to create the " Administrator " user and now it works like a charm. Thanks.

Something like this will be the future of mastering...
Got some beautiful results with this thing...doesn't work on everything of course...
100 thanks to developer

I remember trying to use AAMS a couple years ago. I liked the idea behind it. But I couldn't get it to do what I wanted. So I tossed it. Now, I have been recording music for 30 years. So I trust my ears completely. But not everything can be done "by ear". Especially mastering. What is important is how well something translates to all systems. Certainly not the same art as mixing.

I recently came back to AAMS to give it a shot. My approach was different than before. Typically I can do a complete mix in my studio headphones. I switch between those and desktop speakers to dial things in as close as possible. All compression is added to the bottom line. The only thing "out of whack" is the overall frequency curve. After all, I am using headphones. And I'm not going to play the final in 10 different sources to try and get it right. So what I do is take my final WAV and load it up in AAMS to render out a source file. I then load that file up as the SOURCE for the program. Then I choose a reference file according to what I am looking for. In most cases, it is MODERN. Once that is loaded, AAMS shows me the preconfigured curve for a modern sound. It compares it to my source file. I finally load up my WAV file under the EQ tab and AAMS automatically applies the changes on the fly. Following the directions of the manual, I eventually render out a new EQ'd copy.

IN every single case, my files come out perfectly mastered to sound awesome on any system great or small. This may be dependent upon the idea that I mix my material very well. But the big question to ask here is "Can we actually rely upon the AAMS reference files?"

I truly believe we can. We can pick a few different ones to use and eventually we will come to know which ones work best for us. But still, AAMS is dependent upon how much work you did beforehand. After all, mastering is not the major part of making a demo. The hard work comes before that.

Just found this. Will have to give it a try.

What seems to cause this error is when you try to master audio that has long periods of audio at 0db like if you have a long lead in or are mastering stems. The solution for me was to bounce my stems in real time individually instead of exporting, using an old version of Aams to analyze the audio and a newer version to master them (weird solution). I guess doing the live bounce made each stems 0 db lead ins slightly above 0db or something, but I still got the error message unless I used two different versions of aaas for the analyser and mastering
