Hi there, I'm the author.
As for pricing and 'renting', 1-year license unlock the plugins until the day 1-year after purchasing. Plugins with expired licenses simply return to demo mode. Users can do buying the next 1-year, buying upgrade to lifetime or moving it to trash.
Near-all proprietary software licenses are based on "allow of use", so users don't have ownership of software itself. This is a reason that the word "license" is used, not the word "ownership". I recommend to read EULAs of the software you bought in the past, to know what you actually bought.
Thus, expiration of license can be thought as one of user's choices about the period of allowance. Users can choice 1-year to reduce the initial cost, that is my reason to introduce the license option with expiration. But please note that 1-year license has a risk on extending. When A.O.M. leaves the market ( of course there is no plan to do that! ), 1-year users can't extend their license anymore. If your thought doesn't accept this risk, you are recommended to choice lifetime period as the same as other plugins. A.O.M.'s license system is file-based and will work even if I died :)
Actually, 1-year is chosen as well as lifetime by users.
---
As for discussion of JADEQ, which type of curve did people test?
There can be differences on digital filters and equalizers. For instance, between A and B types of tranQuilizr, there is a large difference in phase response. Most of beta testers and I could hear the difference in sound.
---
About CPU usage, I agree that it is a weak point of my equalizer at the current moment. I will give my effort to improve performance in the after-coming updates. And I've found a bug causing CPU spike and made a fix about that. This fix will be included in the next update release.
---
As for overall design, I don't aspire to making all-in-one plugins. Do you choose your gears by specification sheet, features list or static image of product? My answer is no. I would like to choose/design my gears by my ears, eyes and hands. So I am convinced that my plugins have both followers and haters. Especially, people who are looking for versatility may disappoint on tranQuilizr...
---
Questions and suggestions are welcome. If you want to talk in private, please send PM to me or visit my helpdesk.
Thanks,
Atsuto

Thanks for clearing that up. It seems the cloud concept is spreading into other areas. Good luck.appo1981 wrote:Hi there, I'm the author.

It's all good Theo. I like and respect your opinion on the matter. The latency is huge even on this vst version. The website truly is a bit of a maze. There is a 64 bit for the full pay version. Right now, I am still using 32 bit plugs anyways and feeling like I am probably missing out.TheoM wrote:Yes i realised that mate, and i will not TOUCH it on mac. For one, to work as an AU, the developer is recommending a terribly unreliable wrapper that has caused disaster in the past with everything i have tried to wrap with it.AC222 wrote:Hi Theo. It's not Nebula. It's only powered by Nebula (same technology). It has its own GUI. It's not the Nebula sampler. Aside from the cpu usage, it is pretty fantastic.TheoM wrote:Hi.. personally i won't touch nebula with someone else's computer..AC222 wrote:Hmmm. I have never heard of JADEQ. I wonder where I can download it from. Sounds neat. By the way Theo, wanted to mention that I ended up getting the Mellowmuse Limiter. Ha your limiter post swayed me.
Check out my other post in the Neve eq thread. Too bad vst isn't a native logic format cause the cdsoundmaster eq is fantastic and there's even a free version with limited bands. But maybe there is a vst to au plugin. I don't know how that works but worth checking out for a freebie. I bought the full version and still blown away.
Anyway, Jadeq LOL = Just Another digital EQ.
cheers
Secondly, it is 32 bits.
Thirdly, i don't know about latency, but on nebula it's huge.
Fourthly, i am happy with what i have that doesn't use ten times the cpu.
Really i am one of those who can not see the value in nebula technology. I guess we finally found our first disagreement lol. I am just not interested in it remotely.
Even their website is a minefield, i remember once trying to work out what to download.. oh and no updates for ages on mac.
Anyway, i am so convinced by the NI massive passive, that is absolutely good enough for my purposes, along with pro Q and some others.
But I do like the sound quality I get from Nebula programs and for some any sonic benefits aren't weren't the expensive of workflow . Also, if I was on a Mac, I probably wouldn't be enthralled with the wrapper solution.
Anyways good to hear your thoughts. Keep on rollin Theo!

Hi Theo, thanks for comment!
Type C is virtually identical with RBJ-EQ. Oversampling affects to filter's gain/phase curve in analog-to-digital transformation during filter design, but most of difference is on the higher frequencies. Nulling type C may be easier.
Type A and B are different from RBJ-EQ and Type A plus allpass filter becomes Type B.

Ah... yes, come to think of it, that is big-mouth. I'll remove these words from the plug-in DB and my site. (The second candidate was "a boring equalizer for adults". )TheoM wrote:the world's most transparent eq is a very huge claim
That's a very difficult question... I will ask the detailed condition of tests and try to reproduce in my computer. If the nulling is reproduced, I will throw my hands up :)TheoM wrote:That said, i have a question.. if i was to null you eq with pro q.. or ddmf for example.. what would you say?

Theo, if you can null them, just say so (and then prove it), or contact the developer directly if you don't want to expose it publicly. That post you made sounded a little like a taunt to me.
I really like this EQ in mode A. I don't have Pro-Q to compare it to but I like it better than EQuick, though I find EQuick a bit easier to use.
Atsuto's EQ in mode A seems to meld with the intruments I've used it with better than I can rememebr other VST EQ's doing. Light 1 Khz bumps, for instance, don't sound like EQ peaks to me, they just sound like the instrument has been subtly changed but still remains itself. Small to moderate boosts in general don't sound tacked on like they have with other EQ's, to my ears.

I know I've been one of those "they are all the same to me" type of guys but this EQ really clicked with me. I'm probably imagining things but to my ears there is less "grain" around sharp cuts with this EQ in 'A' mode than in any other EQ plugin I've tried, excluding Equilibrium in it's CPU munching FIR mode with largest kernel.
There's just something very pleasing with this EQ and it did manage to completely kill Pro-Q on some of the songs where I replaced it. Perhaps it's the limited feature set? I don't know.
Sami, you were asking about the filters on this EQ.. they are superbly simple and nice to use. 6dB/octave all the way to a steep 48dB/octave. Very nice and simple to use.
Though I do agree with Theo, why can't each EQ allow the user to select whatever he/she wants? I frequently use several filters in series.. one 6dB to gently tame the overall balance and then a sharp 24dB or even 48dB filter right at the top for damage control. Currently this is not possible to do with a single instance of Tranquilizer (great name btw! love it!
).
Anyhow, I actually purchased a 1 year license and I really like this business model. It gives me plenty of time to get over the honeymoon and see if it's a plugin that I can't live without. I've never sold any software in my life and I'm not about to start now (well I might finally do it with Amplitube 3) so this license model is awesome for me.
Cheers!

tranQuilizr crashes Studio One in Mac OSX 10.7 :/
I've always thought bibliothèque = bibliothEQue (library EQ)
or just thEQue (tech) or would make a great name for an EQ

I haven't heard any high end mastering hardware EQ's in person, other than the EQ on my Avalon 747 which is very good in the high band at least. But this is as close as I've come to what I imagine mastering type EQ hardware sounds like (not Neve, API, etc. but more like Cranesong or GML). The Massive Passive hardware is marketed as "the EQ that's not an EQ" because of how transparent it supposeldy is and that's how I feel so far about this plug-in.
