Hence the question mark. I wasn't sure if it was me or others.
I was speculating and not saying they had asked for anything. You guys probably don't remember project gray box and some of the other synth hoaxes (if they can be called that, since nobody really knows what happened) that have popped up in the past.
I mean, yea I want it to happen. I was motivated enough too to ask for a review / beta copy. But I also agree, why no more news / info?

So they're not totally absent
but I missed it while scanning the thread.
Well, I do hope this one works out
Project gray box was a supposedly stand alone NES (nintendo) synth that used removed synth chips from dead NESes. They guy doing it had a website with what looked like a working LCD, breadboards, the whole nine. He said he fell on hard times and need some preorders to make it happen and I think it started out with some people donating 300$. Then it went critical mass and I mean for years later, despite all the drama and posts on his own website about it being a rip off, people were still dumping money into the project.
Maybe the guy died or something.. I dunno. But it's happened in the past quite a bit that someone will take preorders or something to get some cash in and then turn around and drop the project, sell it as a kit, or just "free ware" the code or schematics and walk away form it. Internet drama I guess.
But as I said, I'd like to see this one come to fruition. We need something new and different that isn't from the few big people that run the VST world. We're well past the second coming of VSTs and I'd like to see that quality be taken up by the interdependent.

Coders are never able to fulfill the announced release date. 
Fine for me though. Better a delay, than an unfinished product which gets thrown on the market. Shalt they take their time.

I keep saying to myself that I have enough VST synths but I really like and want Spire.
I've been watching it for a while now, and just going on the demos, I think it will be a real winner.

Yes, all of the sounds, EQ, modulations and fx's made on 'Spire' synth without external plugins.
