it will work with the free version of Nebula 3, so if you don't own Nebula and want to know what this is all about, go get it.

Obviously you will be fine tuning it and it is what it is but is it possible that you could make a "no compressor mode" or line amp mode or whatever you want to call it to just use it for the color? I will be lining up for this, don't you worry no matter what but that option really makes these Nebula compressor programs even more useful.
I don't understand how but you just made my two favorite bus compressors of all time. I don't know if that's wild coincidence, similar taste, or just dumb luck, but I am finally getting the 2bus compressors I always wanted.
And Slick9k is fantastic is still my fav! Cheers Cupwise. Big fan here.

thanks AC, i appreciate your support. yes there will be a no comp preset. again i'm going to split the release in two parts. the first part will be just the comp, with the main presets being set up to work as closely to the hardware as i can get with nebula, and then with the various other options using different detection modes like i've done with rayphlex and slick9k. the second part will have the limiter and the pass-through (no comp) program.AC222 wrote:

the logic behind why i do it this way is because i feel like the complete set is worth at least 20$ considering my time, $ i've invested, and the quality of the set, but i also think that if i had one set at >20$ i might lose some sales. so i split it into two pieces with lower prices, and anyone curious might be more willing to risk 10-16$.

I can sure appreciate your sentiment on the packaging and certainly the time and investment that you spent. Great idea to split into two parts. I'll certainly be getting both.
It is wonderful of you to make these high quality programs of highly sought-after gear accessible to those of us that don't have the funds or the space for the full hardware so you are a true champion of us little guys. Wish you the best with finalizing things and look forward to buying the full package.

someone over at the acustica forums asked a question about fast release times distorting bass, and i wrote a fairly meaty response where i went into some detailed info about the attack/release and other things about the hardware and my programs, which might be interesting to some people. check it out here.

i just released an update which improves the accuracy of the gain reduction meter. it should be pretty accurate now! if anyone finds out otherwise, let me know.
i'm going to repeat this because i see so many people saying that nebula's gain reduction meter doesn't work right-
the gain reduction meter in these things should be pretty accurate.
the same is true for all my comps, with the exception that i just noticed that the 10k programs in my rayphlex set are off for some reason. i'll try to fix that if/when i get time.
anyway, i sent out emails to everyone who bought the set with the links to the updates, so if you didn't get them, first try checking your spam folder, then get in touch with me if it's not there.

here's an update- it has been pointed out to me that with certain types of inputs, some of the programs can cause a sort of mod-like effect. it's either there or it's not, and it seems to only be very specific types of inputs that trigger it. it seems like it has something to do with the audio having strong harmonics or a specific harmonic pattern.
anyway the fact that only one person has pointed it out tells me that it's not really common and like i said, it mostly seems to be a case that it's either there or it's not. the good news is that i've been working on a fix for the past week or so, and i think it's finally in sight. it took a while because it ended up being more involved than i suspected, and i also wanted to look into other possible things i could improve so i could have them all in the same update instead of having to do more in the future.
i think it should be out soon, within a day or two at most. and i think the set will be much better overall. there are a few other little tweaks and adjustments that i think just tighten it a little more, and there will be a few other things added. so watch this spot for announcement on that.
then after that, and hopefully before too much longer, i'll have the limiter part out. it will be a cool addition and has it's own sound, and included will also be a 'pass through' program that captures the unit without any compression. when i release those, i hope to have audio demos at the site for that stuff AND for this comp that's already out. i didn't have any audio demos up because i wanted some better material to demo them with and i think i've finally found a good resource for that.

ok! i finally got the update done! everyone who has already bought the set definitely needs to get it. the main thing is that it removes the modulation-like artifact that could happen in some cases, but i think it seems a bit 'smoother' overall now too. i also added a few things, including external sidechain programs and special 'SHQ-lite' programs that are designed to be used temporarily, for mixing/auditioning, for anyone who's CPU can handle them and who intends to use the full SHQ versions on rendering. the manual has been updated to reflect any and all changes and a few other things were added here and there also. i've sent out emails to all customers with links to the updated set (check your spam folder if you didn't get it, if it's not in there contact me!).
i've also updated the demo! anyone who has the demo and not the full set should definitely grab this updated one. it removes the mod artifact also, and adds 2 additional sets of programs. it adds it's own 'SHQ-lite' set so that you can get an idea about SHQ from the demo, and it also adds two other presets that allow for faster attacks that can catch the transients, if you really feel that you must squash everything that comes into your compressor. those presets give you a small taste of all of the various alternate setups you get in the main set. so grab it! here's a direct link to the updated demo.

oh and i should also point out- if you are getting the updated demo and had the original one, delete the original n2p and n2v files for the demo before installing the new one.
if you are updating the full set, you don't have to worry about deleting anything, just copy the new files over the old ones.
