We plugged in the Sub Phatty and will be uploading videos of it shortly. My God, what a sound!

I'm listening to the demo tracks on the Moog site now. Fantastic! Now if only someone would explain to Moog that there's a controller type called "aftertouch" or "pressure." Why build such an amazingly expressive sounding instrument and proceed to cripple it? OK, maybe you want to save some money on a key bed, but for god's sake allow it to work with a MIDI controller. What? Did we loose a war?

Minibrute manual will tell you all about using the CV/Gate inputs. I use mine with my modular. Sometimes routing the other oscillators of the modular through the minibrutes filter or controlling with adsr. It's pretty flexible plus I use the gate/pitch out to run into my modular to control it with the minibrutes keyboard. Personally I think one of the Boomstars would be a slick combo of this too.

Honestly I would say everybody needs to own at least one moog,if your a true synth lover,you need a moog,phatty,voyager,minitaur,whatever.... you need it

Stephen, the Boomstar series is truly excellent. I've got the 5089 which aims to offer a Minimoog-style filter. It sounds huge! I've posted lots of audio demos of my 5089 at GS and will copy them into the KVR Boomstar thread later.

A Moog synth does sound very cool(I had a LittlePhatty for a while). One thing to note though is that what analog synths really have over digital ones is the way modulations work. In that respect I'd take a look at DSI synths. They've got the most comprehensive modulation controls, with several LFO's/envelopes/step sequencers per voice, and audio-rate modulation of filters. Much more diversity for sound design. They sell a small monophonic synthbox for under 300€. There's a great editor for it too

Thanks all. I'm leaning Moog. I researched the MoogFoggers and discovered how well they could play with my guitars as well. Then started to narrow the field and after all was said and done, it led me back to the Mintaur again(although the Moogfoggers are still a consideration). What really turned my crank was the vids showing the Minitaur's VST editor and what you could do with it. I have a 12db filter, a 24db filter would be a welcome addition. Today I am going to play around with the Audio in of the MiniBrute. First try the Miniak(VA) then different audio from my DAW as I am fortunate to have a multi-output Audio interface. Yeah the Boomstars seem like a wise choice but IF I had $800.00-$1000.00 I would go with the Sub Phatty.
I need to add to my mic locker, more outboard gear, and want a Analog delay and some ITB Plugs-in's to round out my project studio.
So the Minituar and others in that price range is the most I would go.

Thanks, they don't go into much detail in the manual in my opinion but now I get the general idea. So would a cable with a mini-jack on one end and a 1/4 inch on the other work with the Minitaur and the Moofooger's connecting to the MiniBrute?

I use the 3.5mm mono cables for all CV/Gate/Pitch connections, but the kicker is to run 1/4" audio into the minibrute from your other synth and use the CV control to control everything from the other source with the minibrute. Minibrute has more CV control out than input ability. That way when you run the audio into it and controls out from it, the minibrute knobs are the ones to twist to get the master control. I think if you got a Minotaur, it would compliment the Brute well, but read up on how well its CV inputs work cause you'll be using the Brute's CV outs to control stuff if you want to take advantage of that feature. The gate/pitch out is perfect if you have an analog module with no midi in (5 pin DIN) but want to use the brute keyboard to control it, or don't want to use the midi in connector for some reason (like automating other midi parameters with 5 pin DIN from your DAW, but use keys from minibrute).

They put a good deal of thought into flexibility.

Yeah I was surprised that so many have said they didn't care for the DSI stuff sound-wise. Awhile back I was seriously considering the Mopho and followed threads ie: your editor. The thing is I am spoiled with the one knob per function with my MB. I have an editor for the Miniak, I use my Akai MPD32 with all its knobs, sliders, and buttons to control it and the DCAM synth Squad and Korg Oasys PCI. That said it is still hard to remember all the assignments and I am growing tired of all the mouse work and menu diving.

Even a single analog oscillator with CV in combined with minibrute can give you a fat analog Supersaw. Run the audio out from oscillator set to saw and mix in using the external source mixer and turn up the mixer part for the minibrute saw, set the spread on the minibrute Supersaw. Tune up the external oscillator to the minibrute and adsr + filter cv outs to the oscillator. Now control all from the minibrute as you set the envelopes how you like and retune a little. Instant ultra fat Supersaw analog style.

Just an example

Lots of possibilities using dark energy, boomstars, Moogs, etc.

The filter on the brute sounds fantastic so putting a few more oscillators into the external in sound great too.
