Are there any plans to animate the envelope graphics? I thought the EQ was really cool and it'd be nice to have the same in the envelopes.

I be the minority to say that I did like some presets, especially some of the pads and vibrato leads.
It's a nice synthesizer. Just not one for my arsenal atm. I also had this weird moment trying to use the arrows for the waveform selection, which simply wouldn't work for me.

I will join your minority emotica, as I too like some of the presets.
I am impressed by the pad presets especially (finding them very playable), and I quite like the pluck presets as well.
And yes, Spire doesn't do anything some other digitals can't, but I quite like the feel of it (both sound and usability wise).
Quite possible it could be in my Components folder soon.

One thing I am not digging about Spire is the low pass filter.
Purely from a sound design point of view it makes the creation of pluck sounds hard work.
I am having to resort to using an external filter to get my plucks to sound right which obviously isn't a good thing at all.
For example when the cutoff is reduced to zero too much of the bright element of the sound still passes through the filter making a slow subtle buildup from dull to bright pluck riffs sound right.
Maybe I am overlooking something about Spires filter setup but even the inbuilt factory plucks sounds too bright when the cutoff is reduced to zero.
Anybody else noticing this?

Yah I found the filters in spire are rather timid. I am pretty spoiled for choice as far as filters go considering I have stuff from Cytomic, Fxpansion and Native Instruments.aquar wrote:One thing I am not digging about Spire is the low pass filter.

Still I found the architecture of the synthesizer really well planned, but I think they still have a ways to go before they can give Massive, sylenth or synthmaster a bit of competition.

Isn't it good that the filters have a "character" or characteristic? Maybe you can make sounds not possible with other filters?

Agreed but a basic filter should conform to industry standards.Crackbaby wrote:Isn't it good that the filters have a "character" or characteristic? Maybe you can make sounds not possible with other filters?
If additional unique filters are added that's cool by me.
V0RT3X, thanks for getting back hopefully Reveal will improve the design of their filters?

I had a play with the demo.
This synth kind of remind me of surge in a good digital way.
The Oscillator section is really good, and the distortion is just awesome !!
Filter lacks some character I agree with other comments on this point.
Now some questions / suggestions :
- When I put OSC on classic/sine , it's a sawtooth indeed ??
- Is it possible to have a muted oscillator modulate another oscillator, didn't work for me ?
- Display 'musical values' (like hz for the lfo, +/- X semitomes for the enveloppes, etc..) would be nice
In short, I think with some better filters and the upcoming arpeggiator, could really be a sylenth1 killer !

sorry, but i just don't get it
sounds good enough, gui seems well laid out blah blah, yada yada, etc etc but it's just so underwhelming to see another uninspiring, un-innovative entry into an over-saturated market
at the entry price all is good...the idea to take a great stab at this overdone type of thing but hugely undercutting all competition would be a welcome move, but................
ymmofv

I bought Spire because I like its sound and want to support the developer so he can make further improvements.
I do agree that the one weak point is the filters, so for the moment I am using a separate filter plugin.

I like the way you think. Well done mate !PascalVB wrote:I bought Spire because I like its sound and want to support the developer so he can make further improvements.

Hm, depends... people seem to wait for another plugin like Sylenth, and this seems to aim in that direction, so...el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: sounds good enough, gui seems well laid out blah blah, yada yada, etc etc but it's just so underwhelming to see another uninspiring, un-innovative entry into an over-saturated market

It was this or Oxium.. Spire was a clear winner.

anyways, i might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure that everyone wants sylenth to continue to be well supported and improved upon, and all this substitute searching is only because lennard (or is it lennar ??) seems to have dropped the ball
i mean there's nothing inherently special about sylenth, just what it does it does so well and so simply

I think it really depends what you're looking for. If you are more of an experimental guy, this surely will make you yawn, as it is the same subtractive architecture so many synths have. If you are in it for the sound and looking for an easy to program thing, as most people will be used to programming these, then this will rather ring your bell. Personally, big modular synths for example turn me off just by looking at them. I just can't be arsed to plug cables, and build my synth before using it. I'd rather go for something like this which has an easy layout, which i am used to use. But each to its like.
