Hey guys. I'm loving my new irig keys. I picked it up in the recent group buy.

Here's my unboxing video:

Loving it! I use it everyday as a usb midi controller on my laptop, and use it with the ipad when I take trips. It worked great on a recent trip back to the States.

Well done! Great video (as you know, since we've seen it already) and picture too. People seem to love iRig KEYS and those that were in the Group Buy were happy that the next goal was reached even after the final bell had rung :)

Yeah, that was a pretty amazing group buy.

Back on topic, I didn't really expect to use this with the ipad so much. I bought it mainly to use with my mobile laptop rig, which it works well at. I've been really impressed with the quality of this thing and the responsiveness with ios apps. Works much better than my older, now obsolete, 2 octave mini keyboard. Also, the IK ios instruments sound superb. Loving their iGrand Piano.

Are there any plans for a native lightning cable? The Apple 30-pin to lightning adapter costs $30.

Yes, we will offer a Lightning connector for it soon. We have iRig HD LIghtning connectors shipping (with iRig HD, of course) and we'll have iRig KEYS Lightning cables too afterward.

Pete C, another option is the USB Camera Connection Kit (CCK), though it is also $29. Then you can use the supplied USB cable which is what I do. I use the CCK all the time to hook up either the iRig Keys or a larger 49-key USB keyboard depending on the situation. It also works to transfer photos from a camera and allows you to hook up a typing keyboard. It's a pretty useful cable.

I specifically bought iRig Keys so I had something to play when I'm out in public. My smallest keyboard before this was a full-size 49-key with knobs/sliders and I thought that was a bit too much to bring into a Starbucks. The size is really perfect for me for these situations.

I bring it into work just about every day, too. Don't always use it, but it's nice to have.

Cool that sounds like an option as well.

I like my Camera Connection kit. Not only can it use class compliant midi devices, but it can work with class compliant audio interfaces as well.

I've heard that the belkin powered hubs will let you use more than one device with it. I'd love to use my Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 with my irig keys. That'd be cool for giging live. I've seen a few youtube videos demonstrating this.

That is pretty cool, the only downside is the power going to the interface may not be strong enough to supply preamps with as much power as they are accustomed to. Still cool to play with until we start seeing better and better interfaces for mobile devices.
No longer with IK. Here is my Website | Twitter | YouTube | Facebook | Instagram

Fortunately for me the 18i6 isn't buss powered. It has a wall-wart, so it runs well off of the usb camera connection kit.
