Man, these are great synth strings! After I bought them I've just been noodling with them, there is surprisingly lot variation from 70s stringesque sounds to early 80s dark horror flick soundtracks... This is very inspirational stuff, thanks!

BTW I set kontakt's reverb dry and used ValhallaVintageRoom's Sanctuary presets with them and these sounds just floated like clouds. I think I go back now and put these babies in good use

I dunno, but "String Collection" sounds like a dirty hobby to me. I'm sold.

A very big thank you for all your kind comments in the last couple of days - my inbox is full of equally nice words.

I'm very excited to hear that several of you are already recording with these strings and I'm itching to hear the results!

I honestly think Dan's HIdeaway stuff is extremely under-rated and merits far more mentions, especially at the rock-bottom prices. I'm making lovely stuff with nothing but Hideaway - and this string one is, as many have said above, ******* gorgeous!

Don't know, if his stuff is really under-rated - for those, who know his products, I think there's no-one, who would not agree, that he has some superb food for Kontakt !

If you mean with under-rated, that his stuff is maybe not that well known - might be - and then that should change soon...
after all Dan has just started recently to reach into the commercial field,
and IMHO he found his niche and had a great start with his products.

Well ,whatever - for me Dan's offers are om my top list (in regards to Kontakt) right now.
His string collection is no expection to this !

You know what would be nice? A Subscription service for all your synth sets.

Either that, or a separate product page.
And... bundle prices for those that want to get all, or certain combinations.

Currently, it's really hard to track what someone has and what not. But I like the concept of the Kontakt Synth. Something that the Digital Sound Factory should pick up for their Emulator series on Kontakt. But not as competition, more like "upgrade" to the synths.

Many have made similar comments of late and I take them on board - it's still early days and there are discussions on how to make everything a little more accessible on-line in the future.

In terms of priorities, the instruments come first and the latest has been on the brew for a long time now.

Much of what you hear in this library is a combination of some pretty special vintage string instruments, some later analogs and hybrids, and many hours of experimentation with various discrete tube circuits and vintage test equipment.

An awful lot of tube gear was brought into action in the making of this library (over 200 tubes!). The generator section alone in the 1938 Novachord is made up of a sea of 144 large pentodes (163 in total). Much of the low end grunt and grain in several instruments in the library is thanks to several blended layers of Novachord 346's far from perfect 75 year old tube monostable divider circuits fed through her triple passive L/C formant resonators. Another deep resonance effect is featured and this was made using similar but experimental techniques on the bench with my own L/C resonators, a neon vibrato circuit, and using the entire tube laden vertical amplifier section from a 1968 Tektronix oscilloscope as an impedance matching buffer!

Slowly emerging from one of the heaviest colds I can remember in a long time and frustratingly the ears are a little shot at the moment but slowly on the mend.

Been recapping a very sweet sounding 1960's tube amp in the meantime

Its been heart warming receiving so much feedback recently - so thanks again.

Something new is in the pipeline but early days yet...

Just giving a heads up, that:

a) there are new sets available on the Hideway Studio wordpress blog
b) there is a dedicated post to buy all synths from one spot.

Just a hint as Wordpress user myself:
Either make this particular post sticky please (which in turn doesn't show you what's new), or create a dedicated page called "shop" and put all shopping links there and update them globally.

This would add to the readability.

Liking the sound of the new "blue tubes" btw:

I'm glad that was bumped. This was one I had wanted to purchase... so it's back on the to purchase list (hopefully later today).

Too bad the MyKVR feature doesn't allow for Sample libraries and soundsets to be added to the I want list.
