That's just my way of saying I am ready to buy but would be convinced if there was a price break.
Hello Untamed Spirit,
Great idea, we already have a super promo on our "private deals zone" for the Integral Studio Pack and we will be adding other Nomad products and Magma would be a ideal candidate.
So give us a day or two then check out the "pdz" page and I believe you have a pleasant surprise.
Best Regards,
Nick

Ooooh that sounds interesting. I've wanted Magma for quite some time....

this post was 2 weeks ago, is the update close?Nomad26 wrote:Hello TheoM,
Actually not, we are replying to support request via email but it can take up to 48 hours, we are located in California, so depending from where the support ticket is coming and how many tickets we have during the day, sometimes it can take more time.TheoM wrote:Just bumping this as Bernie seems to have watched this topic.. Bernie can you answer if there is any support issues with Nomad at present? This feature has been added to incoming v1.5.2, front effects racks pages, Browser, individual rack effects and Router page now have list (as it was on v1.5.1) and arrows for up/down presets.TheoM wrote:I also request a next/previous button for arrows to scroll through the built in magma factory effects.. the list is a nightmare to navigate every single change (and it doesn't even tell you where you are in the hierarchy anyway!)It's on our TODO list but requires time for development.TheoM wrote:Any chance of a vsti version?Actually it does, if you want to know the delay compensation that MAGMA is reporting, you have to enable "Display tempo & sample Rate" in the Utility menu of MAGMA.TheoM wrote:And finally and (to me most importantly as would clinch the sale), any chance to add PDC reporting for vst effects? Other subhosts do do this (metaplugin for example). There are many vst effects our there with internal delay that do report it correctly, but magma does not pass that info on to the host. Here's the list of fixes and new features for v1.5.2.TheoM wrote:Oh before i forget there's still an effect or two that cause silence on insertion with a big POP sound in logic, and then lead to a crash (magma native fx not 3rd party vst).. if i see you're still here i'll load it up again and hunt them down and get back.
MAGMA Release V1.5.2
- Fixed crash occurred when saving presets
- Fixed Cubase 7 hangs and sound drop-outs
- Fixed crash when right-clicking LFOs knobs
- Fixed automation crash in Logic
- Fixed crash when saving session in Logic with multiple options
- Fixed random crashes when unloading Magma in Logic
- Fixed crashes and improved stability in Sonar
- Many fixes for MFX-VST Chainer
- Fixed Latency compensation report in AAX format for Pro Tools 10.3.x.
- Fixed MFX-BP Filter feedback at opening time
- Fixed random crash in FL Studio when switching presets
- Significantly decreased effects loading time
- Changed effects' bypass buttons acts like soft mute, instead of "turn-off and reset"
- Added VST validation window to the MFX-VST Chainer
- Added control presets switching up/down
- Added bypass buttons for RackView
- Added 30 days fully working tryout version allowing users to have enough time to test MAGMA's features.
MAGMA v1.5.2 update should be released in about a week or two.
Thank You,

I bought Magma on the promise of fixes in 1.5.2 as 1.5.1 is a little too buggy for me to use.
Not getting any reply from nomad factory directly so thought I would ask here.

With Cubase's 6 freezable insert limit, Magma, and its VST chainer, could be the ultimate solution for getting around this.
Such an ambitious project!
Btw, the trial of Magma 1.6.0 VST is crashing when trying to instantiate Slate VBC inside it. Window 7 x64, Cubase 7.0.5 x64. Can anyone else confirm this?
Also, it appears PDC for 3rd party VSTs is working now (I see latency change in the status bar, I assume it's reporting this to the host)?
Are 64bit 3rd party VSTs inside Magma supported? It seem to be launching Waves plugins as 32 bit. (Cubase's Bridge App is hopelessly unstable -- I won't allow it to even launch.)

(Not sure if that's the deal in question, but it's certainly the best price going at the moment).

Have you tried testing without Slate's VBC?jalcide wrote:.... crashing like crazy at every twist and turn (for 3rd party VST chaining) -- not just during the validation stages, but when trying to instantiate various plugins (e.g., Slate's VBC).

Never a good idea to test functionality of newly released software with other newly released software. If one crashes, how do you know which is at fault?
Just a thought....

Pretty fun stuff!
That reminds me of Reaper - really quite nice if you use another host!

Effectively, yes. Magma was not even seeing the Slate plugins at first. During this pre-Slate phase, I had many other plugins crash, as well. I just cherry-picked VBC to be more specific.flugel45 wrote:

But you're right, lots of moving parts with a VST chainer; new plugin versions, doubly so. I mean, the major DAWs, themselves, struggle with this and they've been working on it for decades.
Sidenote: I wish Magma had more than 5 VST folder config settings. There are two folders I can't add, because I've used them all up. I realize I can consolidate/organize VSTs myself. I just fear the thought of this cuz Cubase 7.0.5 is finally rock-stable for me and I don't want to risk having to rescan everything.
I'm thinking I may just buy Magma for the plugins it does appear to be stable with. Such a great value, considering all the built-in effects it has, too.
UPDATE: bought it. love it. great for getting around Cubase's 6 freezable insert limit. as a VST plugin chainer, it's not working with all my VSTs, but with the ones it does work with, it's amazing.

Comparing these 2 more, I think Magma might offer me more of what I want than Turnado. The Step/mod sequencer in it is a big plus as well as the range of effects.
I was wondering how it hosts 3rd party plugins. Is Magma able to use it's modulation options to modulate parameters of the 3rd party plugins? Or does it just allow you to stack 3rd party plugins inside of Magma?

Yes it does. It can also expose 3rd party plugin parameters to whatever is hosting Magma.stikygum wrote:Is Magma able to use it's modulation options to modulate parameters of the 3rd party plugins?
