nope, theyre good at what they do. whether people like what they do is a matter of taste.

i never understood why people start threads about something they dont like?
why not inform of something you think is good?

so you think that pop music doesn't rely on hype. I think they are good at what they do, but that the entire context of this kind of music is relying on a lot of hype, in order to create the whole desire for this type of activity, it goes hand-in-glove.

the context seems to be that they're relying on hype now, as opposed to before. wait, that was the other thread.

I think they must be more 'important' to folk in the UK than here.

And people should only be allowed to make positive threads about Reaper, Pro Tools, and Waves.

the context there would be "function and improvements..."
unless you mean threads such as "host x is shit" trol type stuff, then i agree.

It is not doing a damned thing for me. I had to stop listening to the stream and put on Alive 2007.

I realize artists/bands change their sound from album to album, blah blah wasn't born yesterday. Obviously the Tron Legacy soundtrack was different from their previous stuff. I liked it though.

But... meh. Random Access Memories is just a big meh.
Well, I'm one step ahead of you> I always hated it. No talent chancers. I don't just hate their music, I hate THEM violently (headtwitch), and more to the point I hate the people that like THEM (double headtwitch - left to right).

I hear they are doing a degree in heavy metal.

Really? They should just do a degree in f**king taking the piss.

Nile Rodgers should be taken out and shot with his own Coke Pipe. In fact, they should burn all of their records.

These f**kers need a good night of the bonfire of the vanities and I'm not talking about the Tom Wolfe novel here (though it's very good).

All joking aside. It's shit and anyone with any taste that you know will say it's shit.

Not a jazz funkster then.

I dunno. They'll never match Don't Fear the Reaper. Maybe if they add more cowbell, they'll stand a chance.

How dare you remain reasonable and balanced in the face of so much emotive, I don't know, emotions, for want of a better word, ?.

I'm so outraged, I'm off to start a new thread. Let's see you come on there and give it the big Charlie Large Potato I don't care...

uh?

My 2 cents, take them for what they're worth...

I respect and appreciate Daft Punk's contribution to music and electronic music specifically. I love their earlier albums and I think they have a great talent for funky grooves. That being said, I think this album is, as a whole, mediocre. On the one hand I REALLY admire that they are doing their own thing and using live musicians, alternate production techniques, etc. That's awesome. But the end result to me is just kind of forgettable.

My main problem is that they picked the wrong 70s bands to emulate, overall. When I think amazing funky grooves with brilliant compositions, I think Stevie Wonder. The emotion and soul in his music is extremely self-evident and he is rightfully renowned for his work. On the other hand, take a song like "Get Lucky". 4 chords, repeated infinitely, with almost no changes to instrumentation or dynamic. Yes, I get that it's dance music, but if you listen to a song like "Superstition", "Sir Duke", "I Wish", etc. you can get just as much of a great groove while also having much more interesting and varied melodies/harmonies.
