I am glad you like the new version of the software I am updating the documents almost daily as I add new features. Just uploaded latest docs to my web site. I am really pleased with the Musical Sequence Analysis tool which enables you to search the sets graphically for good sequences.

Very philosophical concept for a sequencer

Fractals are infinitely complex objects created by simple equations. The equations contain complex numbers - both real and imaginary. Fractals contain no straight edges or curves which can be differentiated. They have the property of self similarity. That is similar patterns occur at different scales. If you zoom into a fractal set you will never reach an end.

Very interesting concept, just downloaded the demo and trying it out.
I am very glad it is a STANDALONE, much more fun to open Reaktor, Kontakt or whatever and sequence them via loopBe1...

What do you think about making a short tutorial video, explaining functions and the numbers, their values etc?

One thing I noticed is that you can use only 1 midi in/out? (MIDI Set button)

The Loop part in fractal sequencer doesn't seem to loop? It stops after 16 notes.
Is that part of Demo?

Anyway, back to reading the manual and experimenting

Hi Soundklinik,

i'm gald you like the Fractal Sequencer.

Having it stand alone has certain advantages and allows me to use a high level programming language and not be restricted to plug in requirements. I do find it surreal inputting a melody and then letting the software develop it by itself. This feature is available in the full version 2.0

I am about to do a fuller tutorial section in the documentation. I was thinking about doing the - compose sequence, based upon the users melody facility. If you would like me to start with a different topic I am happy to oblige.

It has just 1 midi out. It generates 1 midi stream. However you can run multiple instances of the software and/or just multi-track using something like Sonar, Cubase, Protools, Ambleton etc. Just use different Midi channels for each instance.

To loop you need to :-

1. Generate the sequence.
2. Then click the Loop check box and then click Replay sequence from note number.

The demo limits the number of notes to 16. Normally you are unrestricted. Currently set to 100,000 notes. I could make this bigger however as windows allocates memory for arrays before the software runs it may stop the software working smoothly on netbooks which have limited RAM.

Hi Everyone.

I have added another tutorial to the documentation. It is a set of tips on how to compose a new melody using the sequencer. Basically you input a melody you like and then the sequencer improvises around the melody and will come up with alternatives. It also covers how to set up the sequencer to play chords and how to set up an appropriate musical scale for the composition.

Im working on version 2.1 of the software which will be available shortly.

Hi Everyone,

I have uploaded a demo track for the fractal sequencer called "strings" to my website.

There is also an updated free synth - Blue Synth - which is available as a VSTi or stand alone version. The update includes support for ASIO drivers and you can also change the polyphony.

I also intend to update the demo of the SP1000 and provide a demo version of the violet synth.

here's part of an evolving piece recorded in Studio One using padshop and midi generated by fractal sequencer just to give an idea of one possible use.

So, just to answer the question above, fractal sequencer generates midi notes, they are routed through loopbe1 or similar and recorded into your DAW software of choice.

Fractals develop very complex series from simple parameters. So a 100,000 note sequence for a Mandelbrot set needs just 2 numbers. A lot less than saving 100,000 notes!

Thank you for the quick reply. I still would find it helpful to export midi files directly from your program and not have to set up my DAW each time. Nonetheless, this program looks very promising and I will definitely keep an eye on it.
