Im on a Macbook Pro 2011 here with a i7 2.4ghz on board. My PC which i don't use for music would die if i used spire on it lolTheoM wrote:How could oversampling be possible anyway? even to offer 2x oversampling here would make the *entire* synth unusable on any mac laptop.. would probably scrap through on desktops.. I see you have cpu issues also and you are on windows from memory.. if i pick just 2 or 3 patches and ask to compare cpu usage from mac to pc, could you be bothered doing that ?V0RT3X wrote:Ok i've been playing more and more with this, and it is really a sound design playground!
There is more to this than meets the eye.. the modulation is nuts. Seriously Vega555 your team needs to bring down the CPU a bit if possible or at least offer different options for CPU and also don't forget to add an option for oversampling for both Render and live!
If you can do this and bring out the X64 for OSX you definitely will have a winner. *edited* I actually don't need another synth but if i was looking for a starter synth to cover lots of bases like sylenth I would pick this up for sure. Get the CPU lower though..

Didn't try the demo so far, but the demo mp3s sounding really nice. Could be a good addition or replacement for Sylenth1 (till Sylenth2 comes out

I tried it out last night, and it is pretty cpu hungry especially on pads. When I used to own Sylenth1, I don't remember such a big cpu hit, even when using pads.Cyforce wrote:Didn't try the demo so far, but the demo mp3s sounding really nice. It does sound nice though

I've tried setting up 2 pulse waves and use the filter envelope to modulate oscillator two's pitch but it isn't giving me the classic hard sync sound found on the Virus.
There isn't a hard Sync switch on Spire either.
Any tips for setting it up correctly?

Well, i think 3 & 4 won't happen - except their will be really a new Sylenth in the future. Atm, full focus on NI Massive & AlchemyNielzie wrote:Sure will be. On this point, no synths beats Sylenth, one of the cpu friendliest synths ever.Examigan wrote:I tried it out last night, and it is pretty cpu hungry especially on pads. When I used to own Sylenth1, I don't remember such a big cpu hit, even when using pads.

One thing I really dislike visually in this synth is the usage of _ instead of your regular space in menus and stuff. Same goes for automation parameter names. Quite offputting
