I love live in general,been using since v4,9 was not an exciting upgrade for me BUT I got push and its kind of prt of the upgrade for me,push is just amazing

That said I do particularly like the glue compressor and I do like the browser to some extent

Live 8 i rate an 9 1/2 easy.
Live 9 i rate a 3. Mainly because of their shit browser.

You can't browse your disks normally anymore, you have to first Import the folders you want to browse, and then browse to there again through Live 9 browser.
Wtf.

I use Live professionally and never had a problem with PDC. I work around those small problems.

I own Live 9 but i work only in Live 8.

Yeah I didn't mean people are seeing the session automation and curves as a step backwards but the whole thing. However although I agree the browser has its weaknesses, particularly not being able to have more than one folder open at a time, plus it feels disjointed, stuff is all over the place, I would say it's 2 steps forwards, one step back for me. Not having session automation for me was a deal breaker, particularly when it looked as though they would never add it (lots of talk about it being incompatible with the Live paradigm etc), the browser stuff is an inconvenience but I can work with it and it does have its positives too.

I only switched to Live when 9 came out after been a Logic user for 6 or 7 years. I bought it the day before its release with the upgrade promotion so I do have a licence for 8 too. I'm surprised to see such low scores from people for it but I do agree with some points. The browser is definitely one of its bad points. It can be a little annoying switching back and forth between sample folders and plugin folders. Some kind of option for a second browser window would be great. It's also a little annoying when using AUs fit hat instruments and effects are all bundled together. Logic is a lot better for midi editing too. There was some crashes at the start too but these seem to be gone for me.

I will definitely invest on Push once it becomes a bit more freely available, it looks like a great addition.

Anyway, I'd give Live 9 a 9 out of 10. Maybe I'm rating Live as a whole though and not just 9 in comparison to the others. I will say though that there is no comparison to this and Logic IMO. My production output has at least trebled since switching and become much more fun

hey i wanna be clear on this as a v8 user pondering to hop to v9. so the circular browser tabs in the upper left..they no longer support a basic browser function (i would use each one for my various sample librarys for impulse or to find samples for sampling in sampler) but now they work more like a "import" library" thing? Is it cumbersome to point the directories out?

The circular browser tabs are gone. Its now a static set of links at the top left (plugins, sounds, drums, max, etc). Below that are 'places' which is there you have to drop your sample libraries and let live index them

So those links are basically shortcuts to wherever you want, but before you can use any content through it you have to let live index everything in there. You arent limited to 3 anymore though, its unlimited

I dunno, I really like the new browser. That said, it does lend itself to Ableton's content. But I don't mind. I'd give Live 9 a 10 out of 10.

i like that unlimited indexing but i really got used to those dang buttons. thanks for the info man,

One nice addition to the new browser is Packs folder. All user installed live packs can be found under it. Much easier to find things than how things were in earlier versions of Live.

Interesting ! Looks like you will enjoy Bitwig Studio when it's finally released

I think the Bitwig Programmers were the best and key/primary programmers working at Ableton, which left Ableton to create their own DAW (Bitwig Studio), I feel this is why Ableton Live 9 is not satisfactory to many users at this time.

Ableton Live 9. How would you rate it (1 to 10) ? 10 being Awesome.
