Telling people to grow up?
Seems like something I would say to people caught bashing some 16 year old and his creative work.
So you agree.

Apology accepted.

I would certainly call it an admission I said something along the lines of grow the F up. I don't think that's name calling, and I can't say it's an apology. However, I certainly want to be on good terms with you and others here.

I make no apologies for standing up for people who have the guts to create. I'd stand up for you and your work too.

I've heard better.

Semantics.

what's generally missing are some more innovations, other movements, articulations, phrasings rhythms...

to me most modern music is already a big copycat club, understandable because if you're doing "something else" you probably would not fit in "the line up" and never be played anywhere.

beatport only show the "drob" at each song, this doesn't seem like a healthy evolution.

the very last thing i would do is to wish anybody a career in the music industry, specially any youngster, that would be very naive.
there are one or two of millions, picked up and promoted.

i wouldn't concentrate myself on something like labels or connections but to develop a more individual way.
nobody can say if this or the other way would lead to more or less success but i know which way is the healthier one.

that's just obnoxious. I'm not a critic. I'm a musician, & there is little I can't do musically, my balls are the biggest on earth. I rarely type at all about somebody else's music. I have nothing to gain, in approbation here, anything, it's just my opinion.

I happen to think this doesn't sound good. that isn't even a matter of taste. I reacted to 'he has something really special'. He totally doesn't.

You think your own poor disposition is masked presenting it via this fatuous quote?

it's great but he needs to find more space for each part in the mix. If this song was mixed better I think it would be getting a much better response.

Which is a strange quote to use on a site frequented by musicians. Because in actual fact almost everyone here is actually doing it themselves, both well and not so well. But obviously as real musicians, we are not allowed to criticise. We have to like everything musical.

Why? :?: :?

Somebody else posted this kid's music here on KVR, not him. I take my hat off to any 16 year old who is interested in producing music and is actively pursuing that goal.

His music sounds happy, positive, and shows considerable skill. I hear hard work in his music, and if he keeps it up he'll probably go a long way. I enjoyed listening to all of the music on his Soundcloud page. He's posted plenty.

Any 16 year old who has produced this much music showing this level of skill is 'something really special' in my book. Thumbs up.

In addition to creating music and having the guts to put it out there for public consumption he'll have to learn to put up with the likes of some of the nasty critics here on KVR. Creators are faced with the critic. From family, to friends, to strangers, the artist finding encouragement amongst the negativity can be brutally difficult.

Make no mistake, there is a difference between constructive criticism and some of what is being spewed in this thread. Calling some kid's music "crap" says more about the person saying it than it does about the kid.

There might be one or two critics in this thread that can do better. Most of you cannot. I also doubt any of you were doing anything better at 16, and if by chance you were, what happened to you?!? Do any of you have a major success or successful career in music to point to? Is your music even listenable?

If I had to put my money behind someone, and bet who would have a successful career in music, I'd pick this kid before the KVR critics.

whatever me saying 'utter crap' says about me is not relevant unless you need to have a bash yourself. I have a poor disposition to utter crap, it says something about the object in question. My disposition to this is that he's being coddled already. I don't much care, but I took this opportunity to provide the opposite point of view to the OP. Sue me.

How do you know? "Critics", I'm pretty confident everyone dissing this does music on a DAW and there is no envy here.

I think comparing someone else to when I was 16 is unfair. :uhuhuh: Mom would never let us scratch records on the gramophone, so right there my musical growth was stunted.

I don't understand this "uproar"... Nineofkings is 17, makes great music and only a few people comment his music in the Music Cafe, and even the "up-starter" Madeon was only 16 (or 17?) as he had his "breakthrough" in the music biz.

So, age doesn't say anything...

My opinion to the music in the first post: Not bad, by all means dance-able, but with more variation and less reverb (or more EQ?) it would sound better...

from my pov, wasnt an uproar about skill level, i was merely saying id rather see kids encouraged to make music than to be hanging about up to no good

Of course, but not only music, teens (that's what I call 16 y.o. people) can also occupy with other things like playing soccer, surfing, painting, writing poetry, constructing circuitry etc.

I was into writing at this age, and I wrote poetry, short essays, newspaper articles, documentaries, made magazine layouts with my AMIGA 500 etc. So I hadn't time for hanging around useless...
