9.04 is a step back. it has such a slow response, when loading. every time i'm too early doing something, it freezes and i have to shut it down immediately. it needs a lot of time to load again. oh no :tantrum: :x

9.03 hasn't auto updated and I've been too lazy to DL. I'm fine where I'm at.

Used live for about a year... started beta testing for 9... was incredibly letdown by how negligent the mods and developers were and how ridiculously rude they were to us testers.... jumped ship to Cubase 7 and haven't been disappointed since...

Ableton 9?

I'm a Cubase 7 users too.

I never bothered buying/using Ableton Live. Now that Live 9 is out, I was a bit itchy to get it, but the feedback so far has not been positive on it.

My plan of action is to add Bitwig Studio when they finally release it. I'm also starting to learn Reason 7, which I think is a great DAW as well. either rewired into Cubase 7 or as a standalone App.

Cheers & Thanks for your feedback,

Very reasonable. We complain and poke fun at bitwig because many of us wonder if it will EVER be available, but I'm completely the opposite of how I was back in Nov. I wouldn't recommend 9. Trust me, over all I'm pretty happy I have it, but I 8 suite to fall back on as part of how I got it. Anyways, I think it's reasonable to wait, at the very least until the abe's get their heads out of their (_______) and start updating more often :x

Solid 7

Depends on Bitwig's score. I will give my opinion once it becomes available.
It's all about the wavelets. I dream of the perfect additive synthesis.

I've never used Live nor have any intention of ever trying it, so this thread is particularly useful for me. I've been a Reaper user for many years, extremely happy with it and I'll certainly be dropping it like a stone when Bitwig is released.

IMO, Live went downhill after Robert Henke joined Steinberg, and they've never been the same since.

Live 8 rocks, but 9 is unfinished beta. So i'll give it 7.5/10.

I don't know who Robert Henke is

Was he a leading programmer at Ableton, or Project Manager, ...or ... ? and what is his position now at Steinberg ?

I'm amazed that a lot of people are so down on live 9. It's easy to complain and gripe on internet forums but programming software isn't quite so easy.

I think that Live 9 is the most powerful version yet and blows away any other host I've used. The browser keeps things better organized, the 64-bit compatibility is essential, and the new color brightness/hue settings are great.

I've found that with music software, when I focus on what I like about the software, then what I don't like about the software fades away. Making music is funner and easier than it ever was for us all, and we should realize that fact because life is too short.

Sounds like you would give it a 9 or 10 :)
