am I the only person on the internet who doesn't like the new Daft Punk stuff?

As a toned down version of your point, I don't really like the album, as I said, I won't buy it. I would like it to be influential, however, and this is largely as a response to Skrillex et al. That said, I'm not sure that I see it happening. It doesn't seem that it's quite strong enough to have a lasting effect. Will people be wanting more EDM that is groovy and features disco musicians? I find that unlikely.

Who cares whether it is EDM or not? I don't like that label...

I find the album really lacking in some effort to keep the groove going. Yeah, electronic music is missing a lot of groove these days... that's true. And I think Bangalter has earned the right to criticize current electronic music scene.

But I find the album overworked. So frustrating when the production is near immaculate... groove needs some attention span, and the songs move from one point to another so fast. It's too bad. I think DP is capable of much more, but this doesn't show it.

The album sounds like it was designed by a committee of focus groups.
It's all about the wavelets. I dream of the perfect additive synthesis.

I never got Daft Punk. I mean, I could see the appeal, if it weren't so inanely repetitive. Than again, I'm an IDM kinda guy.

I heard a bit of the one song, because 'Nile Rodgers'. it was far too boring for me, I don't know why they needed him, why not buy a loop from him. it has a glossy surface and well mixed. far too low in terms of content. I really do believe this requires a gigantic hype to do anything.

I think they will react well to groovy tracks and disco influenced grooves (but better is funk, disco is so EDM finally...). But on the other side they don't give a f**k if it is played by real or machine musicians. In the daft punk clip get lucky the music is made by a surreal rasta that u can only imagine in your dreams, and two old rusty robots :D

And what the people certainly don't want is the lack of power we find in this album. This is not dance, this is sleeping time. Sadly people don't give a f**k about plagiat, and thus they may ultimately like this daft punk because the melodies were tilting some part of their lizard brain and remind them something from childhood without knowing what exactly. I just hope nobody will ever copy their workflow that would be regression in electro.

Well pitchfork apparently gave it a 8.8/10 for similar reasons.
"So RAM is best appreciated as a counter to these trends." http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/180 ... -memories/

They even said 4 of the songs weren't good. That is 30% of the tracks! What load of crap. I wonder if their exclusive cover story was granted in exchange for a (clearly) undeserved rating?
