·Redeem your code in the link above (free 50$ to expend in commercial magazines*), remember to use the SAME e-mail as above.

There are certain effects not allowed cause it can change the sound drastically into something else. Correct but at the same time, I have heard some excellent sounds in many OSC tracks which did not entirely come out of the synth only especially when the synth didn't have any onboard effects. I am 100% sure a lot of effects were used afterwards to produce those sounds. Some even explained how they achieved it by using so and so effect. So does it not fall under "sound changed drastically" category? I mean the synth produced a blip and you made it into a snare.

Here is another idea. How about picking a random winner from all entries every month and award the last prize to that contestant.
For example, if 5 prizes are to be distributed based on total number of entries. Distribute 4 to the first 4 contestants and pick a random winner for 5th from the remaining contestants (i.e. minus the first 4 contestants).

These points and others that didn't make it into the vote this time will be included in the next one (not sure when that will be).

If you are wondering why not all votes add up in all fields, it's because not everyone voted on every point.

We are running a hidden artist - title thing in another contest from Joseph Hollo, which is pretty interesting, this is the first time i'm seeing that.

With secret voting, instead of a voting thread could there could be a 'Reviews' or 'Feedback' thread? The soundcloud comments are great but it may be possible to get more in depth concerning questions about sound design and mixing techniques in a dedicated feedback thread.

Perhaps in the next poll a question could be asked regarding CM effects being allowed like free ones?

I thought we nailed that sometime back, didn't we? Come on, CM Mag is as good as free now, especially with Zinio vouchers. Irion's SkyNet team has been very pro-active and promoting the deal . I guess almost all must have got at least one mag for free from Zinio. We should allow the nice effects that comes with it.

Secret voting without anonymous submission isn't gonna be that much fun. Lets see how it goes

"As good as free" does not equal "free". As long as you're required to own a copy of the magazine one way or another, IMO it still fails in the commercial product category.

Now how about if someone that wasn't able to check the forums for an extended period of time thus missing the opportunity to score a mag offer decides to submit a song for OSC? Shouldn't we all start on the same foot?

I can't think of anything available commercially that compares to the CM bundle - to me it seems more comparable to using DAW plugs, most of which are also not technically 'free' but I believe to be a nice addition to the contest. I also think it would help level the playing field between mac and pc users as far as what's available.

To be honest I think the playing field is already so far from level based on processing power, soundcard, monitors, free time, etc. that the inequality caused by commercial vs free plugins is somewhat inconsequential in comparison.

I'm just so thankful that V'ger puts together these rule votes as they do a good job determining a middle ground that hopefully the purists and decadents can all agree on. (Or at least put up with)
