who would have thought of crackberry as a platform for music making? :-)

if someone actually tried it, I'm curious to know if it's any good.

I'm curious too.
I was just playing my EWI into Animoog (on the iPad) last night mapping cc's. What an amazing synth. Thinking about IAP for the midi out pack.

Does anyone know if any of the sound packs are setup for expression (cc1)?
I can't find the aftertouch function. Maybe it's named differently.

Hi Marty, I believe Aftertouch from the EWI is mapped to Channel Pressure in Animoog(according to JimH). If your EWI doesn't output Aftertouch you'll need to map cc2 to AT in FreEWI and map Channel Pressure in Animoog to what you want to control.

I wonder if they will port FreEWI to Android or Blackberry for us EWI players?

Speaking about Animoog, why, when I'm playing it from one iPad to the other, the second one doesn't receive the sliding.
I see that it sends a CC99 with the value of the second note, but it seems to ignore it.
Is there some setting I'm missing ?

Ah, thanks. Yes it sends aftertouch and I can map it to something else with freEwi.

What app(s)do you run on the other ipad? There are only very few apps that can handle the poly glide/aftertouch.Beatmaker or cubasis can't for example.

I was running animoog too, same preset, that's why I find this weird.

Found the problem, I was using the Live routings in the midi network setup on osx, and it filters out that CC99.
Now I made the connection using bidule and the second ipad receives that CC99 correctly now and animoog is sounding like it should.

Thinking about it, I don't have an EWI but it would be neat if he added that sliding cc in freEWI, could be activated by a pedal or something, because that sliding fx is really what makes animoog and it's not the same as using pitchwheel, or at least I can't reproduce that using the pitchwheel. Could also be useful when using an external keyboard.

Wow, cool! Maybe this will help push Blackberry to allow us to access the USB port for plugging in MIDI controllers. (It's been done on "jailbroken" Playbooks so the hardware can do it)

Darn, this is bad news for Android. I love my Samsung S4 also, but Android is constantly overlooked for professional music apps. I suppose it's that whole latency issue crap. :( Seems like the only clear choice these days if you want to use professional audio apps to the best extent is to have an iPad.
