It's for me a bit too transparent. It's an excellent mastering compressor but I like more comps with a bit more character like the Neve 33609 (UAD) or Vertigo.

Love the Vertigo VSC-2 on my masters. Just give the last bit of polish and color I like4damind wrote:It's for me a bit too transparent. It's an excellent mastering compressor but I like more comps with a bit more character like the Neve 33609 (UAD) or Vertigo.

What are you talking about ?HcDoom wrote:And aliasing...
There is no aliasing that I can hear going on here.
If you see aliasing in analyzers, it doesn't mean you hear it. It's too quiet, of course.

For me Elysia is the compressor to go when I want to apply 1.1:1 compression to make myself feel better.
I like it. I think mpressor is much better compressor, but out-of-box M/S compression wise, I find Alpha to be the best.
I think it's just me, but when I put the mix version to a single channel and turn up the ratio, I do hear quite a character. But I doubt it is really meant to be used that way.
Vertigo is great for very few things. I do prefer Alpha to the compressor in FG-X.

It's all about the wavelets. I dream of the perfect additive synthesis.

Elysia Alpha is imo still one of the best compressors on the market.
