Please, do something else. We already have two good emulations of the CS80. And I am evangelizing several developers towards the Oberheim Matrix-12 for ages. Since Xavier already created an emulaton of the Elka Synthex, which used the same VCF chip, he could very well consider take over the task at emulating the last dinosaur on earth that isn't yet recreated in software
The Synthex, OB-Xa and Matrix 12 seem to use the same CEM3320 filter chip:

http://www.electricdruid.net/index.php? ... fo.cem3320

The used CEM3320 chip seems to work more like a "filter building block" than like a fully intergrated filter. This is also one reason why the OB-Xa misses some filter modes of the Synthex.
It also looks like the 2-pole and 4-pole LPFs of the OB-Xa are implemented as two separate circuits while the Synthex multimode filter seems to use only a single CEM 3320 chip.
The use of the CEM3320 filter seems to be more like the combination of ICs and discrete filter designs (like e.g. in the OB-X filter) so the result in different synths should be difficult to comparable.

The Matrix 12 filter should be quite complex and uses a lot of different filter modes.

BTW the new upcoming "Uhbie" filter in U-He Diva will be based on the OB-Xa too AFAIK.

Are you kidding us ;-) Not a single correct guess as of now??? I've been so sure to have it right... ;-)

Edit: If no one guesses right will you then do a second competition?

As you can see I need to have this plugin badly. Also no correct guesses show the quality of the V+. Apart from that would you consider a new take on the all mighty CS-80 with the quality of your expertise? That would be really really great...
Well we have around 200 answers, and only .... ONE winner atm.

So the second winner is still to be found.

And yes we also think it shows the quality of the V+ :)

Cs-80 and the Matrix are often asked for. An emulation is much much more than a simple filter type, you have to recreate the whole machine. I listend to some somewhat digital new synthesizer audio demos yesterday, but presented, and perceived, like a VA, wich it barely is imho, and this made me think how much oscillators are important in the personnality of a synth. Its not only sounding "thin" or "big", warm or cold ( Because thin and/or are wanted/needed sometimes ) : Its merely about sounding "musical".

Keep on bringing the different suggestions guys. We read you, cant promise anything, because we also have our own small ideas ( Like the V+ ) but we certainly listen to you.

Hi everybody,

The XILS V+ announcement contest is ending this evening.

This is the last chance to win one of the two licenses we are offering

Best regards
Xavier

Nice work Xavier! Very difficult to distinguish between virtual & original.

I sent my choices yesterday or past yesterday, but didn't received the confirmation e-mail.
Could you check this, please?
I have sent an e-mail about this to Support.

Have a nice day :)

Xils V+ will include severral features not included with the original synth in that way.

This includes FXs (Reverb, Phaser, Stereo Space), Arpeggiator, additional modulation (decicated mod LFO, mod envelope, mod matrix), additional controls for the Choir sounds (e.g. Resonance amount, Formant shift), additional controls for the Strings (e.g. waveform adjust, Strings filter) and additional Vocoder controls (e.g. slew Attck, Slew Release, "Water" mode).
Opposing to the original synth the ensemble for the Strings could be switched off and the dry/wet amount of the ensemble could be adjusted for all parts of the synth (besides the on/off switches).

With Strg + left mouse you could set the default values which should correspond to the setting in the original synth. Those seemed to be included in the original circuits ("under the hood") but with fixed values.

Based on this there will be quite a lot presets included. While the sound of te original synth seems to be quite impressive it was actually quite limited in terms of synthesis options.

Like the original synth this got an upper and lower part so you could split and layer the strings, Choir and vocoder sounds.

Thanks Ingo for the details.

Yes you can do interesting things with mods that were not present on the original machine, like simply adding velocity to the strings for example. I've made a preset like that in the factory lib, a kind of arco strings with some vel/attack also iirc.

Else audio demos will be coming tomorrow, and believe us, there's some GREAT stuff in them, including some crazy ones feeding the Vocoder engine input with some Xils 3 sounds :  :-o :o

Actually, it's the SEM/OB-X filter, not the OB-Xa. Urs promised that somewhere in the future, he will take a look at the implementation of the CEM3320 in the Matrix-12, as he now owns one fully repaired and working.
But Urs is not going to emulate the Matrix-12, as his approach is different. Xavier, OTOH, does emulations (with added features), so, maybe he could give a go to the Matrix-12. After all, THIS was never done yet.
Besides, it seems that the Matrix/Xpander use more than one VCF chip combined, that's why they achieve so complex filter types. The whole synth is an impressive machine, IMO.
