East West Pianos full sustain pedal not working..

Been trying to fix this but I don't seem to get the sustain pedal to work AT ALL.

Using Ableton Live 9 and Cubase 7 (very little), and latest update of PLAY.

Can anyone help me? it's like the sustain pedal is not connected or something, cause it doesnt work at ALL.

I'm on Mac btw!

Mountain Lion 10.8.3

Really need to fix this now, it's driving me crazy!

Thanks.

Which controller are you using? If it's an older, non-usb model, try changing the polarity of the sus pedal. Some can be changed in a menu on the controller itself, while others have a switch on the bottom of the pedal.

Different manufacturers use different hot/ground on their switches, and some will actually cut off notes you're holding if set the wrong way!

Hope that helps.

I'm using a electric keyboard which I have done to a MIDI USB keyboard, by using a MIDI/USB interface. It's a very old piano itself but works excellent wiht sustain on other plugins, just the east west..

Does the sustain work in standalone mode? Does it work with other stand-alone instruments? Does it work with other instruments in Live and/or Cubase? Does it send CC64? If so, which values does it send?

OK NOW I've tried with different Kontakt 5 libraries such as emotional paino and Alicias keys, and it works perfectly fine with the pedal! It simply doesn't work with my Pianos Full East West, what's wrong?! please help!

Thanks.

It doesn't matter what DAW it's in, it simply doesn't work anywhere with the East West pianos, but all other pianos works fine!

That's very weird. I have never used Pianos, but I use a couple other Play products, and sustain pedals work fine for me. Still, I would have to assume that is not the intended behavior with Pianos, because that would be just plain stupid.

Do you have any other Play libraries with which you can check that they work with your pedal?

This is kind of the obvious question, but you haven't mentioned it yet: have you contacted EastWest support about it?

yup also got EWQL (east west symphonic orchestra silver) and it doesn't work there either!

You definitely need to contact support if you have not yet done so. Sustain works perfectly fine for me in EWQLSO in the current version of Play (3.0.47), so something is amiss in your setup.

Have you tried triggering PLAY/Pianos with a MIDI clip that already has sustain data in it, or manually entering sustain data (cc64) to see if PLAY responds to it? If it does, then it's probably a problem with your setup. If it doesn't, then it's either a bug, or maybe something is amiss in your PLAY settings.

FTR, I don't have Pianos, but I have several other EWQL libraries and AFAIK they all respond to sustain in every host that I've tried it in.

yep, tried that and it still doesn't work..

A few other things to consider:

- if you press down on the sustain pedal, does the MIDI activity meter/indicator on the Pianos track respond (i.e., is the cc64 message being received by your DAW)?

- are the "Sus Pedal" boxes ticked in the "Articulations" window on the Play/Pianos interface?

- are you sure that the entire library was installed properly? According to the manual, Pianos has separate samples for the sustain articulations. Is it possible that Pianos can't find those samples?

1. How do I check that in Ableton? I have literally no idea lols.

2. Yes they are!

3. Yep yep. hmm, it doesn't say anything about the sustain samples missing at all tbh, so it should be fine? also, it's in the same folder as the others! How do I check this? cheers alot for the help!

You said above that other plugins work fine with your sustain pedal--if that is the case, then answer to this is yes, you are receiving MIDI data.

Dude, seriously. You need to contact EW support.
