Hi everyone,
I know 3 current automatic samplers for software and hardware: Xtreme Sample Converter, Samplit and WaveRobot. Or are there any more that are good?
I'm on Apple. Xtreme Sample Converter doesn't work on Apple, seems dependent on loading plugins for sampling software and hasn't seen an update for 2.5 yrs or something.
Samplit hasn't been updated for over 3 yrs? And it also needs plugins that work in it? Some of my plugins don't show their UI in the Samplit demo.
So is WaveRobot the way to go? I need stuff like batch start silence truncating, batch autolooping etc.
What programs save metadata like sample start and sample loop points with the samples they export?

Yeah, that's the one I meant, WaveRobot is the sample edit program
Been playing with the demo. Doesn't seem to save metadata?
Batch truncate start silence is working though.

SampleRobot... seems the $130 single-format version can't record in 24bit? To get 24bit sampling and multi-format export (only sfz, sf2, Halion xml, sxt and Wusikstation) I need to pay $220 more. And it doesn't save metadata like loop points?
Going to look into EXSampleConverter then

I really wish they would concentrate on fixing the long-standing bugs first.nielsdolieslager wrote:Chickensystem is going to integrate an autosampler in Translator and Constructor. Glad I waited
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Yes, Ben, what are they? =) We really can't do anything about bugs that you notice unless you report them.
For many years you've been complaining about Translator, although you'd never used it. Then I was glad to see you purchased it, and was glad you reported a couple minor bugs (display oriented, none relating to function). We addressed all of them. There's more?
Please report anything you see, we'll take care of it same day.
Yes, we've got a nice autosampler coming in, all integrated with our products. We're having a big sale Memorial Day weekend so it's a good chance to get get onboard. It is Mac and Windows and fully supported - then, now, and in the future. We've been around for 25 years and getting ready for 25 more.

Hey now, the crashes are serious enough, I just learned it isn't a Mac thing either from EvilDragon on the NI forum
How do I report random crashes? Sending crash report OSX generates?
An autosampler that has random crashes is not going to be very useful
But I've got a question in advance: is there a difference between the autosampler in Translator NI edition compared with Constructor?

Almost all crashes aren't random, there always is a cause.
We ask for the source file you are trying to convert, we don't ask for crash logs but if you want to send one that's fine. The most important thing is to detail - briefly - what you are doing step-by-step so we can replicate it. Bug Reports http://www.chickensys.com/translator/bugreports Takes maybe 1 monute or so, no effort.
But the worst thing is to keep it to yourself. Tell EvilDragon (what a name) that too. Let us know!

Wrong!chickeneps wrote:For many years you've been complaining about Translator, although you'd never used it.
I tried the Translator demo several times before purchasing it.
Remember back when you actually used to be able to demo it, but only one conversion at a time? Despite trying several different conversions for both the TO and FROM formats, it very rarely completed it. Also with each new version update I would try the demo again, to see if the conversion issues that I was having were fixed.
Granted it's gotten a lot better over the years, but there are still some niggling issues.
Yes there is, but I am often too busy to report them. Besides, I should not have to be a beta tester for you, submitting tickets all the time. I just need it to work, as it should.chickeneps wrote:Then I was glad to see you purchased it, and was glad you reported a couple minor bugs. We addressed all of them. There's more?
Awesome, I'm glad to see that you are in this for the long-term. Especially now that the other software convertors seem to have all bowed-out.chickeneps wrote:We've been around for 25 years and getting ready for 25 more.

I don't know, I just deal with lots of things in Translator and they all work.
It doesn't take really any time to report things, but you do seem to have time posting some kind of report to this forum. I'm just asking you to divert the time to us, when something constructive can occur. We have zero tolerance for issues but we can't do anything if they aren't reported.

I just demo'd Constructor and sent you the issues I ran into.
The full Translator upgrade interests me but I'm not willing to pay for a disc and shipping costs again, I never even opened the first one, just a waste of money. I could buy ingredients for 2 good meals for that amount.
Can I get a download only version? If not, no deal.

Although it has not been updated for forever, Extreme Sample Converter works great for me and has been a godsend in sampling and doing general sample editing. No sample mapping in ESC unfortunately, so I use Kontakt and Halion for sample mapping. I use samplerobot if I want to sample a HARDWARE synth (can't do a software synth with it that I know of).
