The BE version is free, but BE has more limitations than LE. On the other hand BE version is pretty nice and already capable for nice warm oldschool sounds.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned any of the arturia synths!!

IN PARTICULAR I mean the sem v...that synth easily compares with diva in terms of analog authenticity

Post

Arturia is a lot like Korg they are $50 each and the Arturia individual synths are less than $99 if you go to audio deluxe but I think most of us would get the whole package deal than buy them one at a time so that may be why nobody is mentioning them but your list also left off Synthmaster. It's got to be considered at the top of the list. M1 is so cheap you could add it soon after or pay a slight bit more and do both at the same time. I want them all

I have synthmaster, Z3ta, rapture LE, Dim Pro, true amber and all the synths in Sonar as well as VI one. I will be looking to add GForce Minimonsta, Korg Legacy Collection via their 61 key controller, the basic NI Komplete 9,VB3, OPX player, Arturia V Collection, IK total studio 3

Then I will go after adding symphonic stuff like EAST WEST CCC, Symphobia etc

then Rayblaster, Diva, Omnisphere, Trillian, Alchemy, Zebra, AAS ultra analog, DCAM, Largo, Xils Lab stuff, Zebra, Iris, Discovery Pro, Organ 3 / lin plug stuff, MOTU, Steinberg, ETC..... all it takes is money right?

you can get a 25% discount on Synthmaster here or look for the ad all over this website.

If you can pick up NIs Massive in the market place for $99 I would highly recommend it or wait and save up for that or Zebra, either are a must have in my opinion. Massive seems to have been pigeon holed as a D&B/Wobble but honestly it's a hell of a lot more versatile and a must in my book.

New for Sub $100 uhe's ACE is a no-brainer and really good to get into for programming not to mention its spread of presets.

Lush101 is great on sale for your price range, whilst it can be CPU intensive use 1 part instead of the 8 parts it works well and I understand the dev's are working hard on recoding, streamlining and tweaking this synth - it is remarkable.

Synthmaster is again highly recommended and a good alternative to Massive for the money. Again a wealth of presets available online and remarkable. Only thing puts me of is the GUI feels a little weak and the presets in some cases dont quite cut it in the method they have been programmed, but a majority are amazing.

Dune is another to keep you eye out in the market place as over budget. But for me didn't quite cut it, very smooth sounding but to me it's missing something!

Z3TA+ 2.1 is another one to mention and often overlooked. Of course Sylenth1 if you can grab a second hand deal. RefX Vanguard whilst old is another worth mentioning, along with Korg but over budget for you.

Sigh so many choices for you....

He won't even be able to play one note of this on an old machine. It's currently the most CPU hungry plug in on the market. So what's the point in this particular case?
nonsense...my mac is a 6.5 y.o c2d 2.33 with 3g ram and i can get through most of the presets....a couple of pads do floor it, but no more than say diva or diversion

also reckon it will end up being better optimised in the near future

i'm not saying it would be the smoothest experience but if you wanted it bad enough there are workarounds

One might also ask what kinds of sounds or features you are missing on your existing synths. That could narrow down your choice.
I guess one thing I'm missing is FM, like FM8 or something like that would be real different.

Or a Harmor or Iris type of synth, not sure how much they go for 2nd hand, or if they go on sale once in a while.
IL are still all on sale for 50% and rhino is a cool fm choice and a great guy behind it
This is what happens with the demo version of Harmor when I click the menu for articulation/mapping/shaping and pick something from it. This screenshot is from a few months ago actually:
