Looks good to me.

Thanks.
Hadn't noticed "Vocals" up the top right corner, the devil is always in the detail :)
Suggestion: list them all within the graphics area. Maybe in a horizontal row?

Does this new version contain a linear view? This is the main thing that I wish SPAN would get as it makes analysis of the higher frequencies far more accurate :)

Post

No linear view. No plans to add it.

Aleksey, sorry for the OT: could you please give some more detailed info about your Analogflux Insert plugin? The manual is very sparse on this. Has it been made obsolete by any of your newer products?

Thanks!

Post

toothnclaw, please ask such OT questions directly. Analogflux Insert is unique plugin, it was not made obsolete by any plugin. But the function of the plugin is questionable as it adds a kind of jitter noise.

Aleksey Vaneev wrote:SPAN Plus also features output level metering with adjustable ballistics and integration time, K-metering (including calibration K-metering).

Can we please discuss what you actually mean by "k-metering"?

Is it meant that you utilize the K-System (v1) metering, or the k-weighting filter from the EBU R-128/ITU-R BS.1770 specification?

If it's the latter, I'd love to know if we can setup the ballistics of the peak/RMS bargraphs as well.

It's a K-system metering with a fixed 600ms integration/falloff time.

Please expand a bit on multi-channel thing: do I understand correctly, that I can setup an 8-input buss and send, say, drums to channels 1-2, bass to 3-4, gtrs to 5-6 and vox to 7-8 and I will see the color-coded spectra on top of each other?

Post

meloco_go, it's much easier than that. You just need to employ spectrum import/export, you do not need 8-input bus.

What if I want to see the thing on playback?
It would be fantastic to see how different channels interact in real time.

Maybe you can create a video with overview?

Then please describe that on your page and OP.

Because if I go by the tag "k-metering" these days, I instantly think "k-weighting filter/EBU R-128 specs".

A correct definition would be:
"K-System (v1) metering"

I write v1 on purpose, since there is also an evolution of this standard existing (v2, based upon EBU R-128 meter ballistics and weighting filter). And I wish more people would define more clearly what metering system is what.

If you mean what I think you mean:

Insert and instance of SPAN Plus on 2 tracks (e.g. one one bass, one on drums).

Select a different spectrum colour for each one.

Open one of the plugins and click "Import/Export"

Select and number from the "Export To" list (e.g. 1) then close the plugin.

Open the other plugin.

Click "Import/Export" and click on the "Import From" menu.

You should see the other plugin listed there (It may help to name each plugin which can be done by clicking the "Unnamed Instance" button at the top right of the plugin).

I hope that helps. If I'm on the wrong track sorry for the babble.

Looks like it is what I want to know, thanks!
And so if I hit play I would see both moving? I'm not importing a static snapshot only?
And how many channels can I import that way?

Post

Compyfox, I've added a note in the Features it's unweighted metering.

Looks like a nice product. If I already have GlissEQ, is there anything that this can do that GlissEQ can't?
