Is there any way for me to hide my name from being displayed on the front of the plugin? I'm a bit funny about things like that. It's a privacy issue really. It really disappoints me when developers do this. Is there actually any reason for it? Very few other plugins do it. Honestly, I can not see one advantage to the developer or the end user by doing this. Is it just me?

On a more positive note, I take it all back about the Gui. It's gorgeous. I have warmed to it very quickly. And the patch preset structure is a joy to behold.

I'm still catching my breath about how luscious and deep it sounds as well.

Amazing work!

I might have to get Room and Shimmer just to say thanks (after I get Verbiage of course).

Can any one that owns all three (Vintage, Shimmer, Room) tell me what the major differences are, in their opinion of course? Flowery adjectives allowed.

;-)

Thanks.

Edit: Even if you don't own all three, maybe you tested them before buying just one of them. I'd still be interested to hear what you think. Saves me trawling through pages and pages...

I own all three:

ValhallaRoom: convincing room, chamber, and hall sounds.
VintageVerb: familiar Lexicon-style reverbs with more modulation and "character" If you've ever used a PCM70 you'll enjoy it!
Shimmer: Much more over the top and unpredictable. Ambient. Actually not of any use for me in the year I've owned it but I was so impressed with ValhallaRoom I bought all of Sean's plug ins for support.
ÜberMod: Really great for Dimension D/Cooper Time Cube stereo width stuff.

Hope that helps! I think everything but Shimmer is a "must" own.

I dug 112db's Redline Reverb enough to buy it. Does rooms, halls, chambers, etc.

Could be just you :)

I'm assuming that most of the time it is just you sitting in front of the screen so, when you open the GUI,having your name up shouldn't bother you...

If you have clients or anyone who is sitting so close to you that they see your name if you open the GUI suggests that they already know your name to get that close !

Can you give an example of a situation where it bothers you as a privacy issue?
Cheers

The AMS should be neat but that's a really specific, niche reverb. People are going to buy it for the Ambience and Non-Linear settings. Everything else in the box can sound pretty nasty and metallic. But, those two blend really well and sort of just make things sound bigger and wider. When I take the UAD plunge (not looking forward to that initial investment!) it's one I'm excited to try. But, I wouldn't want it to be my only option!

I think Exponential Audio Phoenix, along with ValhallaVintageVerb, will cover all needs. Everything else is just another flavor or more of an "effect" Or just ValhallaRoom and ValhallaVintageVerb...but Phoenix is probably the most "realistic" I've come across when you want a convincing room

Yep is about the taste :)

The RMX16 Ambience also sounds pretty nasty and metallic. When listened to in isolation. Put it into a mix, and it just melts.

I've spent a few days in the last year working with the RMX16, and it is an interesting box. The Sanctuary mode in Vee3 had its nonlinearities based upon some RMX16 listening / probing tests, in order to model the "gain stepping convertors" or whatever they are called. The NonLin2 and Ambience modes are great. The Room is HORRIBLE. The Hall is sparse but good, and the Plate could work for some purposes. Honestly, the vast majority of these units are probably always set to NonLin2 in most studios, and the rest are probably set to Ambience. A lot of these old digital units are currently used for 1 or 2 sounds, that "just work" in a lot of recording situations (see also: H3000 doubling patches, PCM70 Tiled Room).

I read pages 1-5 and 10. Didn't see my favorite 'coloring' reverb, AriesVerb metioned, so I'll go ahead and point folks there. First preset is called something like Temple of the Ancients and it's aptly named.

I like it for enormous space creation - I still have a beta version, which at times can get into some weird mode that when I render to audio, will cause an odd and troubling spike at the front end of the exported audio file. However it's a rare enough occurrence that I keep coming back to using it.

Here are links to old public beta demos: http://www.ariescode.com/ariesverb_archive.php

I have not demo'ed Valhalla but certainly there must be someone here that compare Ariesverb against it.

Ariesverb was one of my most favourite reverbs for many years - Great sound, very versatile (including special fx) and ultra-light on the cpu (due to its FDN-design). It can't do early reflections and late reverb at once, but you can use a second instance for that and it still uses very little CPU.

But in comparison with V3? When EpicVerb came out, I stopped using Ariesverb - and now that I have V3, I don't see any reason to use Epicverb anymore.

I still think AriesVerb is completely unique. It has some incredible presets.. Heavenly Echo II being one of them. It's brilliant!

I've also made some 40 or so new presets for it.. some of them quite unique, some of them very weird.

If you like tweaking and exploring things that you don't understand (at least in my case) then AriesVerb is a real gold mine of exploration!

Cheers!

I just started fooling around with PianoVerb2 and its a really unique sounding reverb. Not a replacement for the Valhalla stuff, but a nice part to the puzzle. All these $40-$50 plugins are eating away ay my wallet.
