Anyone tried this thing out? Ive been thinking about getting The Glue or the NI Solid Bus Comp, but this looks like it might be a bit of a contender. Its also on sale now (at least with IKs weird credit system). Any thoughts?

Thanks for the in depth reply. I'm still new around these parts, but I've read some of your other posts and it defenatly seems like your one of the local athorities on what's good and what's not.

I have been demoing it against the glue, as have been getting some really good results.

I wish the demo were longer, but at this price I might just har to go for it.

There are a lot of SSL buss compressors out there. The Glue is te most "hi fi" of the bunch, the Waves has more character, and then there's also the Duende and the UAD. Plus, Slate is coming out with one that has Neve input and output transformers so a slightly different take. I wish the transformer option was switchable in and out, but whatever.

Like Theo said, none of them are "bad" and are all slightly different. For mix buss, for what I've tried, the Glue, Waves API 2500, and Veritgo VSC-2 are the stand outs. They are compliment each other. There's not one that stands above the others and I usually try each on a mix. And sometimes no mix buss compressor is best.

It's best just to try them all and see which suits your ears.

And after you try them all, you can download this one: http://www.tokyodawn.net/tdr-feedback-compressor-2/

Use preset: Master Parallel

Actually the best one from all the bunch is the mixbus in sknote bus.2 is just blow all models out , this is good emulation from Tracks i just hope they will try to be a bit inovative till now they only released emulations witch was done from others and they was done good so hope they will emulate in future something we dont have, as for example Ni(softube) even new in the emulations and even their emulations are not the spot on they did Manley Vary Mu ,so wanted emulation actually then bunch emulations of old gear witch doesnt fit that much anymore in nowadays standarts..

no no no i am not at all.. remember i have one sided deafness (100% loss on one side) so i hear, well i guess everything, different to others. I just hope my opinion is valid but the authority on comps is bmanic. Shy knows his stuff but he is very critical of everything LOL but he's taught me a lot. Brok knows a lot about comps too. I mean we all have an opinion as such and some very knowledgable people here but when i decide whether i like something or not, i THEN go and look at bmanic's opinion.. I make my own first of course, but he's the one "i trust" with these things so to speak. Look recently with the FC70 topic, he brought up something about the transients that's changed alot of me in the last few days.. actually that topic is a good read IMO.

Anyway do let us know what you decide. cheers, T
I had no idea, do you find yourself mixing in mono or stereo more?

Either way whichever you pick, shoot it out against the T-Racks Bus Compressor and let your ears decide.

And only $129.00 from me. Sure, it's cheaper from the source, ok, much, much cheaper, but that's not the point. The point is that you get one of the great bus compressors (possibly the most original, sweetest one ever) and I make a tidy profit. Win. Win.
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

There is no probably. It is the best from all these. The most transparent feedback compressor I ever heard.
The plugin is 100% bit transparent. The sidechain runs at a very high rate of more than 352.8kHz.
The resampling is done via very high quality linear-phase time-domain convolution.

Take the manual and see other specs. Try it anyway.

Any examples vs the one OP was asking about? :)
