hehe
Yeah Spire can be automated but it doesn't directly reveal itself to automation.
Well not on my Ableton setup anyway.

Martin,
The way I've been doing it (which is counter intuitive compared to other Synths such as Sylenth) is to first go down to where you drop your effects into Ableton and unfold the device parameters on Spire. (the upside down triangle on the Spire device)
Click on configure then move the knob that you want to automate and its parameters then appear.

Also don't forget to engage the automation arm (located to the right of the arrange record button)
This method should work even if you aren't using a midi keyboard.

If there's another way I am all ears :)

On my wish list as well. :)

I do agree that the one weak point is the filters, so for the moment I am using a separate filter plugin.
Yeahh i did the same here.
It was this or Oxium.. Spire was a clear winner.
Really? Oxium won't win any awards for a clean interface, but in terms of "character" it was a clear winner for me. I demoed Spire and I don't have anything bad to say about it but... I've got a folder full of synths that have similar feature sets and sound just as good. If I knew about it during the $69 time, I probably would have snapped it up just because I like the osc section and distortion/decimator options, but somehow I totally missed it... oh yeah, my wife and I were probably having a baby when it was released. I also missed most of what happened at the Boston marathon...

Wait... isn't that the description of how to do automation in Live? :?

Guys you have to learn more about Ableton Live, I don't know... maybe watch some tutorials...

:D

Just trying to help out a fellow musician.
I find that more constructive than wasting time posting pretty animations.

I think that's where I am going wrong on Kvr I need to spend more time being obnoxious to other users and generally stating the obvious.

I have used the Spire demo inside Studio One, and i have no cpu problems.
It use more than some other synth's but it is not far from Alchemy to name one.
But if i want a nice saw strings patch i would probably use another synth than Spire.
But it has not maxed out my cpu at all no matter what patch i have used.
My cpu is an intel i5 quad core
I can confirm this. CPU usage is not that high in Studio One 2.5
I have tested it on a not so recent AMD Athlon 3 core laptop.

But I'm sure it can still be optimized.

You should DL Oxium version 1.5 ZeroC, if you have not already done it. There's the new ICE skin inside, and also some blocks have been reorganised and some labels added. All in all, I'd say its more intuitive than before. Well besides that, a lot of people said that Oxium was very fast to use, remembering that it can also be a very powerfull synth regarding modulation options. ( + Also dont miss the free -for Oxium previous owners- Jupiter 8 soundbank add on if you did not DL it. Its on your Xils account ) Sorry for OT.

I'm using it on the mac. The CPU hit is pretty low.

Heheh,

Well, that was a total dumb.ss thing to say about the automation.
Must have had total blackout about this...worked with reaktor for years like this.

I did like serhiy06's little animation back there, and aquar, thanks for refreshing the brain.

but,but,but...the parameter for automation doesn't show automaticly when you touch or turn a knob like in most other synths I use in Live...I guess this is just a minor issue, not a serious one.

Back on track by downloading serhiy06's patches

You have to press "Configure" knob on Ableton's plugin shell

I finally got a minute to check this synth out and it's quite neat. CPU is around 17% single voice in 96khz with no FX, the reverb (plate 2) takes about 7-10% (which is quite high?). Looking forward to some optimization in future.
