I mostly use Maschine for writing, Cubase for mixing, and Studio One for any kind of quick and dirty recording, such as mobile recording or when I'm at another studio. Studio One has been gradually winning me over.bharris22 wrote:Just curious how many different DAWs KVR members use regularly? Do you go back and forth between DAWs depending on the project, or do you generally stick with a particular DAW until you get tired of it and want a change? Why do you use one versus another?

3 tracks of DIVA will do that.hibidy wrote:I can't really write with it though because I can load about 3 tracks and oopsy on the cpu load
I've learned to use a lot of FM8. The ASL Soundlab preset pack really helped.

It's just easier to use live since I have it, and it's multicore (I haven't had a problem yet) So even though the tactile use of maschine is fab, it's just easier to use live. And then of course my greatest discovery in the last month is FINALLY getting to grips with S1 (cpu was an issue prior to 2.5) and it's pretty
It's surprising how good it really is.

Studio One is luring me away from Cubase 7. So clean, and has just the features I need. Sure wish Presonus would hit it with the pretty stick though. The interface is efficient but uses ugly colors. Sounds terrific though, so I guess I just close my eyes as much as I can
As hard as it is I have to make a decision on one DAW for primary use and just run with it.
Studio One 2.5 Pro, while not perfect by any means, looks like it is about to win the battle of the DAWs for me.

Agreed. I still prefer Cubase for my own stuff but I often turn to Studio One when mixing other people.billcarroll wrote:Studio One is luring me away from Cubase 7. So clean, and has just the features I need.
I load Maschine as a VST into Cubase when I'm ready to get serious with an idea. Maschine is like a super capable, super inspiring scratch pad for me.As hard as it is I have to make a decision on one DAW for primary use and just run with it.

I love S1. It is so easy to just load up and go nuts with it. And, I have yet to see massive CPU clobbering like with certain other hostshibidy wrote:It's just easier to use live since I have it, and it's multicore (I haven't had a problem yet) So even though the tactile use of maschine is fab, it's just easier to use live. I just fell a little bit more in love with Cubase after they posted a demo video on chord tracks last night on Facebook.
I think I'll be using that quite a bit once I get the hang of it.

So far this poll would not be useful for making decisions or basing conclusions as it is about even for all situations presented. It is the most closest poll I have seen yet.
Most power users own many DAW's and Audio editors and also Video and Photo editors. They may work in 1 most of the time and transfer there mix to another and rewire when 1 is lacking.
Your poll shows(at least now) there are many ways around this subject.

For me now, I just like using one. It's just less hassle.
But I do miss a few of the fx in Logic, but I'm definitely sticking to S1 as it just works for me.

I use Maschine that way inside Reaper.

Agreed. I used only Cubase for the longest time, it did most of what I needed and I learned to work around the few things it lacked. What changed that was the ability to load other DAW's (Maschine, FL Studio, Geist, BPM, etc.) as VST's, there's just no reason to compromise when that's available.CTStump wrote:Most power users own many DAW's and Audio editors and also Video and Photo editors.
