What bugs me about these and the offers elsewhere is that you always have to submit your email adress so they can send you newsletters. That's why i wouldn't call this for free either, it's rather adware. Of course you could try to register with a disposable email adress: http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html Not sure if it'll work though, some systems won't allow these adresses.

Note that some companies will give away your email adress too, no matter what's written in their EULA's, at least that's my experience...

A little paranoid this morning then? ;)
Definition of Adware on Wikipedia wrote:Adware, or advertising-supported software, is any software package which automatically renders advertisements in order to generate revenue for its author. The advertisements may be in the user interface of the software or on a screen presented to the user during the installation process. The functions may be designed to analyze which Internet sites the user visits and to present advertising pertinent to the types of goods or services featured there. The term is sometimes used to refer to software that displays unwanted advertisements.
So clearly Beatdrive is not adware!

You have to sign up for KVR to be able to download free patches from the KVR database. So is thus KVR adware?

Nope, just getting a lot of spam from sites i never visited nor heard about. :/ I have another email adress i haven't used to register anywhere and it's "clean". Never got any shit on that.

I must admit that i might have exaggerated a little though by calling it adware. Let's just say it's subscription sponsored. :P

Just get a hotmail/outlook/yahoo/gmail account and set it up specifically for spam, contests, and promo offers.

It is really not an issue to waste brain cells over. :hihi:

Here is a bigger issue.. BE CAREFUL with the AM_Track compressor. I pointed it's installer at my VSTPlugins directory and it REMOVED ALL OTHER PLUGINS IN THAT DIRECTORY!@#!#

All gone.

Not in the recycle bin.... gone.

Post

Even the repair can't find them. :-o

First and Last Magix plugins I try at least for awhile.. glad I didn't point it to C:\ root... it would have flushed everything.

I guess that is one way to stifle competition.. remove them from the customer's hard drive. :hihi:

:-o Shit

I downloaded that prog to put haven't got around to trying to install it luckily. Most def will not do it now.

Post

I installed it yesterday... and I still have all my other files...

Post

Ok phew.. Using the (free) program Piriform Recuva, I think I got back most of the plugins in that directory.

Have to configure it to retain directory structure and point it to another drive.. but it looks like I got most of them.

Still have to reinstall a few... bad magix. It probably told me something about it but I can't read German. :hihi:

Congratulations.

You might be able to run out in traffic and not get hit.. whereas most people would.. doesn't mean it is safe.

In any case.. this is what I did (Windows 7 64 bit):

Closed Host, Installed Vandal to root Effects directory, Installed AM_Track to same root Effects directory, it popped up a message in German with a button, I clicked the button to proceed with the installation (thinking it was just telling me that directory was already created are you sure you want to install in there -- probably was saying that), and it installed AM_Track by first removing everything in that root Effects directory and then placing the AM_track in there alone.

I didn't notice anything until I started my Host and I noticed the Effects list was awful short. Opened the Directory in Explorer and I only see 7 or 8 files total, all part of Am_track. yikes. :hihi:

It told you that it will delete all the files!

No mention about this in the Effects forum:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=382789

I'm just thinking it is important to install this prog to a dedicated sub-folder, and not to a general one like VST folder, as the prog thus thinks it should overwrite the information already stored there.

Anyone else can confirm this information?
