Sounds like you need full Pro-Tools w/hardware setup

pretty much, everything is plugged into the mixer before hand, then just "go for it!"
i spent so long in the past multitracking for both myself and customers i started to lose the "fun" so have just started playing for te sake of it for a bit again :)

down to even having laptops for reaktor, zebra, ace and alchemy played as live synths :hihi:
:ud:

Hmmm... I'd say just over half... I've a certain way that I like to work, and I use a lot of 3rd party stuff too.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

That's exactly the point I was at about a year and a half ago. Bought some hardware again, then some controllers to "play" Ableton like an instrument and now play live and record output. Very little fine tune editing. Mostly raw music recorded as a play session.

Put a whole new emphasis on fun for me.

I use 100% of my host's capabilities.

Lets see,
40% Cubase
40% Live
40% Orion
that comes to 120%!

that's userious

I really doubt that most people is close to use even 50% of a high ends host, host can do so much and cover so much stuff and so many workflows.

I mean many barely even use midi, while many others barely do any recording.

If one are to use (eg) Cubase to a full extent it would need to record with dry sound a (bad) band and singer then edit it (from melody correction to add multiple voices and drum replacement) o9n top of that score a orchestra (and vsti 3.5 midi edit) to a movie, mix that with IDM practices and remix it with the loop thing while using the included plugins and supported controllers. All while using all the midis and editing tools of curse, plus the gui configurations.

Those that know cubase (I actually dont know) could show the absurd even better.

I dont know anyone that in is whole career has ever been so diverse much less doing it all in the same host or that there wouldn't be a major revision before he finish the work:hihi:

So I really doubt of when someone say it is using most of his host unless it is energy st or something very simple .

If not including bundled effects and instruments, I'd say around 60%-70% because Orion doesn't have many features. :hihi:

I (mostly) like it for what it is.. barebones Sequencer/host with a very simple method of input (left click - note on, right click - note off). That and the sequences included on the actual instrument in banks makes things SUPER efficient.

If only it had better track based automation handling and maybe a better graphics engine (or the play time on the actual transport that has been requested for a DECADE :hihi:).

But I suppose this isn't the complaint department..

DECADE would be a very confusing tuning

Hmmm...

Ableton Live: 25% at most - I guess I'm guilty of the comfort zone thing. Also there's a lot of thingers in there that I just don't need. I bought it for the paradigm, not the bells and whistles and I don't feel bad about under-utilising it, because the stuff I do use is perfectly suited to what I do.

Bidule: 75%. It really chimes with me and most of it gets a good workout. I had Lego when I was a kid, but I never built the stuff that was pictured on the box, because doing your own thing was much more fun.

EnergyXT 2: 0%. Sad, but true.
"are we there yet?"

Percentage of my DAW's features I actually need - 50%.
Adjusted percentage of DAW features I actually use - 50-75%.

Sometimes I use very little, and sometimes I use quite a bit. It's nice using a daw that provides facilities for using it both ways and for inbetween situations. I prefer a daw that allows for configuration to myself, rather than configuring myself to the daw, where someone else thinks he has a better idea of what I want. I wish that all software were modular (and well thought out).
