Recently I noticed that all the Antress plugins are sleeping in my plugin folder but I haven't had time yet to test them all. There are so many...

Does anyone still use them, has anyone gathered some special experience with them? Can you recommend me any of them which are extraordinary??

I remember there was a - controversial - discussion about them a few years ago, but maybe some of you have gathered some new experiences with them in the meantime...

-only used Modern Vacuumer and Expander, aka up&down compressions.

I liked them.

I have a cyclical habit of downloading them twice a year, as if somehow they may have magically gotten better and will be worth keeping around. Only to find a few minutes into testing that they are the same old thing they where the last time I engaged in this ritual.

Some people swear by them, but many more discount them as half-baked SynthMaker high end hardware knock offs (offered free of charge mind you) produced by an eccentric amateur dev hopeful.

That said, I say try'em out. You've gotten nothing to lose but time.

Exactly this is the problem: (not enough) TIME...

I still have dozens of freeware and magware plugs to test, I even haven't got into all my (bought) commercial plugins, and my plugin folder is boiling over like milk...

It's just that someone here mentioned the Antress Analoger and then I thought, maybe there are some more (nearly unused) gems from Antress that are sleeping in my plugin folder without getting enough attention from me.

The Antress CL1 B is a killer ! (for free ok, but I'm not sure the softube one is so much better).

I've seen an interesting vid showing the 670 clone vs the UAD one and the Antress one was really good it seems.

the 4k and 1176 emu are quite nice too (for the price).

Analoger can be really great, for the other ones I still have to try them ^^

Yep...DeathCore is one of my Favs...esp for Drs,Etc!

Antress plugins. Hit and miss to be fair and the guy did seem to improve over time so the early negative hype is understandable. However, there are some useful tools to be had there.

The EQs are pretty meh on the whole but the Deep Purple is nice for some broad tonal reshaping.

The compressors capture some of the character of the units they are based on (compared to other VSTs at least). I don't think of them as emulations proper though but rather as 'I need a compressor X but somehow different'.

A couple of the 1176 types are good for brutal oversmashing (Seventh Sign is one iirc). Some of them are rubbish. Deathcore is another decent fast n dirty comp.

The LA2A types are unmitigated poo.

Apophis is a pretty decent buss compressor.

Firechainer doesn't live with the best Fairchild emus but is still useable if you don't have anything better. VFME is another alleged Fairchild emu. I don't hear that myself but it does have its own character.

Antress plugins beat the Waves Mercury Bundle any day of the week and any second of the minute.

I use Modern Premium quite often for snare and piano tracks and Modern Deathcore sometimes for bass track.

I did like the red compressor (Lost Angel?) quite a lot, but this was one of the times where I would get every freebie ever made, just rushing through. :hihi: By the end of such days / weekends I had 20 or so new toys that I would get deeper into at some point... never happened. Gladly, I stopped doing the KVR search -> freeware -> download them all thingie a while ago. Rather use my DAW stuff, the payware I got and the freeware that has proven to work or does something nice. (VoS, SonEQ) :)

i'm still using Modern exciter for the low end

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I thought there may be one or two from all these Antress plugins that people are still using but there seem to be many more favorites. I think I should look more closely at them...

I bought the Anteras warmer while it was on sale and I like it A LOT! :)
