The only reason I ask this is it seems a pain in the ass to go and look for every file associated with the install?
Starting to think maybe i'm a windows man
Exactly what I was looking for in a response.declassified wrote:You don't have to delete all preferences because those files are generally quite small. You should make sure you clean the folder in "Application Support" (if any) though, because that one can be quite big.
Actually OS X handles this better than Windows. On a Mac, there's only a few paths you have to check if you want to remove everything associated with an application/plugin:
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
/Library/Audio/Presets/
/Library/Application Support/<Company Name or Plugin Name>
/Library/Preferences/com.<Company Name>.<Plugin Name>
...as well as the above paths inside your home directory, so ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/ and so on. There may be exceptions to this once in a while, but this will cover 90%.
On Windows, for comparison, you have the registry, "Documents and Settings", "Program Files" and any other folder you could think of.
