question about DUBSTEP

How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

I understand and completely agree with all of the points of view shared here - thanks for helping everyone!

my main concern is that i'm creating a SAMPLE LIBRARY in the dubstep genre and I don't want customers who purchase it to not like it just because I've included some 4-on-the-floor beats in it.

personally, I would LIKE to include 4-on-the-floor beats AND regular 2-step style beats too, not JUST half time beats.

but I fear that if I include beats like that then people would complain about the library not being TRUE dubstep...

and with the MONTHS of long hours I spend everyday to make a full sample library, I don't want to get bad impressions or reviews of the finished product.

If you want to include 4/4 beat in Dubstep sample pack, then just make sure that it has dubstep flavour to it. That's it.
Wonder whether my advice worth a penny? Check my music at Soundcloud and decide for yourself.

thanks, loki -
I mean for the DRUMLOOPS section only -
I have a folder of drumloops that are perfect for dubstep - all 140bpm, and right now, all half-time with the snare on the 3, etc.

do you think people buying a "dubstep" SAMPLE LIBRARY would WANT drumloops with 4-on-the-floor kick drum rhythms?

(I don't mean "beats" as in a full track....)

My point of view :

People who are buying loops generally don't have a clue about music. So they will buy dubstep pack because it is written "Dubstep" on the box. If now and then they have a 4/4 beat inside, I think this will not kill them, or maybe they will not even notice since they don't really know what they are talking about.

I would recommend to make ur library ready for Dubstep/Trap/Electro. Like that no more confusion. Dubstep because this what you want to do, Trap because this is the new hype and the guys doesn't really now what is trap too (mosquito-step ? :) ). And electro like that u cover a wide aera, and the one who come complain for a 4/4 beat in your lib will just be wrong because electro includes them all sub-style.

An humble opinion ;)

2nd thought : Do it !

Like that theses guys who cannot write beats will maybe mix 4/4 and "half-tempo" beats in the same track, that will make it less boring !

Just warn them on the box or the webpage that they may encounters some weirds beats in the drum loop section, because theses are 4/4. Like that no surprises, no complains ^^

thanks for your suggestions, Davias -
much appreciated -

I think I will go ahead and include some 4/4 beats in the Drumloops folder, along with some that are not "half-time" also -

the sample library i'm working on is going to very VERY big and incredibly flexible when it's finished, and certainly NOT be just a "collection of loops only" and I want it to appeal to as wide an audience as possible.

cheers!

Dupstep started in the early 2000s. So I guess it's time for some new stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubstep
