EP has posted a pretty telling message about what Spectrasonics has been up to. From what I gather: some announcements/news should be coming out soon (before 2014 for sure). Free updates and new patches for Omni/Trilian, new grooves for Stylus RMX...and BRAND NEW instruments/"many new products"! Woot! Maybe not all in 2013, but some stuff for certain it sounds like.

No joke I was smiling in excitement the entire time I was reading this post by Eric. I am so glad to say I am a VIP Spectrasonics member (own all 3 instruments + xpanders + Moog Tribute). If you aren't one yet, consider making yourself one! It seems like a good time to get ready for some VIP deals?? :hihi:

I'll need some self-tanner and vitamin D supplements because if this is all true, I won't be seeing the sun this summer!

This is how I am beginning to feel...

Thanks for the link - woot indeed. Pedant's corner - Eric said there would be news before 2014 (not an actual update / product), but since he's also said that they won't be announcing til they are really ready, one can put two and two together.

I'm looking forward to the browser reorganization. It's a bit of a mess at the moment I think.

Wow- Eric just let it loose there- love it! On my content wish list for Omnisphere would be vintage and accoustic keys. I know it's a bore for him- but to have studio/live quality keys that I can run in live mode would negate any other software needed for my live use. Oh, and of course, a cowbell- we need more!

Yes, but you forgot to convert that number to developer years, so it's really like 2019, I believe.

You're thinking in linear mode. They think in exponential.

I have NEVER seen any 'deals' on Spectrasonic stuff.. Should of bought Omni (I have Trilian) since you can play Trilian stuff in Omni... Maybe an upgrade sale (Trilian to Omni) from Spectrasonic could be wise..

You are only looking at it in terms of financial deals or sales on the up front purchase. What about all the free updates and added content? Wouldn't that be considered a "deal" to you?

Absolutely. I LOVE their business model. How many of us have been seduced by a "no brainer" deal or lured into a crossgrade we never really wanted? How many of us have bought something to find it 50% off the following week?

There's no games here - Spectrasonics set a price (and a great upgrade price for owners of earlier products which share some DNA) and that's it. No introductory discounts, no sales ever. Absolutely brilliant. And it doesn't just hold it's value - it GAINS value. As you just sit on it, Eric just throws stuff your way every once in a while, til you have 8,000 presets not 1,000 and a whole raft of new features you'd never even thought of before.

The mere fact that they haven't had a new product they earn money from for what 4 years now and yet are still doing great business says it all.

"we answer hundreds of phone calls and emails from all over the world every day"

I was glad to hear this. I too thought the worst when I see the lack of buzz out there. It is great to know that they are hugely busy and are not fizzling away like other software makers.

This looks like a good VIP deal on Omnisphere! ($100 savings). I can only hope they continue this VIP deal for their new instruments

I absolutely agree. I hate it when developers change the price all the time.
What's wrong with one price and sticking with it?
I feel cheated if I buy a product and a week later it costs half.

I also see no problem with Spectrasonics if they stick with what work well. They have good products that sure are still selling. What's the rush?
If they have nothing of real value to release, don't do it.
Most companies have too many products that are mediocre.
