Just picked up a SuperNova Rack. It's quite daunting to use hardware again after all these years. It took me a while to find my midi cables etc...

Anyway. It's an amazing sounding synth.

Any tricks and tips I should know about. How do you incorporate it into your DAW?

Are there any good sound banks out there?

Use the effects! They really make the sound come alive

I haven't found many banks for this one. If you're willing to spend a few bucks there's of course the Vengeance Blue Magic(or something similar) patches. They're quite nice. It's also super easy to make your own cool sounds.

Watch out for the Sync and Syncskew. Can make some interesting sounds. Special filters are also tasty for pads and fx. I really like the Arps too.

Nice! I never had the chance to use one tbh, but they were an incredible bit of kit back in the day.

Been playing with this over the last couple of days.

I'm so used to software synths that I'd forgotten just how good some hardware VA can sound. It's a very nice sounding module.

I'm slowly working through configuring it as a multitimbral machine. Seems to be quite a few menu's to get through to achieve the desired outcome but once I get it all set up I'm good to go.

Really? I'm using Nova over here(the 6 part little brother) and configuring to use it in a Multitimbral setup couldn't be easier. Just set each part to different midi channel. Done.

I also did a patch manager for it that integrates to the DAW. It's now easier to use than softsynths. Totall recall + patch management + tactile control + zero cpu use

LOL. Yes. But it took me a while. So used to softsynths that I've forgotten how to use hardware

Yes the nova series is awesome, i've owned a few, very bubbly.

Hi!
I just got a Supernova 2 rack last week.
I would be interested in your patch manager if it works also with SN2
(Nova with latest OS should have all the parameters of SN2, right?).
I looked on your linked website but I found just the patch managers of two other synths (Venom and Mopho).

it's a long time I try to get a Nova/Supernova model.. but for a reason or another I never brought one home...
I regret to not have got one when it went out in '97 (got a JP8080 instead because it was much cheaper here in my country).

Please are there any Jarre's sounds for Supernova series here to share?
or have any of the free soundsets that were around in past?
Searching on the net I got a lot of dead links and dead sites as well.
And it seem difficult even to find soundsets on sale.
Nova and Supernova models seem to be very underestimated today.

There is also a couple of sounds in this Nova's presets demo

that I don't found in the Supernova OS2 update and which seem to not be in the OS4.1 update for Nova too!
Even on the Nova 2.0 Factory programs those two are missing.
Did Nova version 1 have different programs than later ones?
Exactly the programs are the B013 "BubaBubable" at minute 1:33
and B020 "Syn Sync Da SynK" at minute 2.14
Anyone has them?

I downloaded a few free sets years ago, but didn't make to open it for now in SN2 module for my librarian (SoundDiver)... it says they are only for Nova models. Shouldn't be compatible instead?
I thought it would have ignored the model instructions and read programs parameters only.

The filter and resonance pots on my supernova have been acting funny and Novation was super kind enough to send me a couple of rotary encoders. A couple of hours work with a soldering iron this evening and it's perfect now.

I had a Supernova 2 rack years ago and currently have a NovaII keyboard which I get to play around with once in a while.

I did knock up instrument definition files for Cakewalk but I gave up using Sonar a few years ago. These made it so easy to use with Sonar.

I was watching a program about JM Jarre yesterday and saw that he was using a Supernova keyboard at one of his concerts.

I wished I'd seen the Jarre program. I'm a huge fan.

Not surprised he's using a Supernova. I'm very impressed with the Supernova rack. I managed to get mine very cheap on ebay and the sounds it makes is amazing.

The only negative is that the reverb sounds a little ringy. Everything else sounds amazing on it.

Any Novation SuperNova owners here?
