Is there any better SW Synth Deal than the Korg Legacy right now?

I don't think so. I just picked up the Korg Legacy series and am blown away by the sheer number of fantastic tonal capabilities i got for the price. Happy customer post - and a deal heads up (that probably belongs in Market Place, where it would get lost).

For $50... I picked up the NanoKey2 USB midi keyboard. I plan to use it on-the-go with my iPad, or when I am traveling with my Macbook Air. It easily beats using the keyboard controller in Logic, for quick capture of beats or tunes.

Korg has a $10 rebate going on on their nano controller series -- so the nanoKey2 is really $40.

There is also an upgrade sale going on - which allows nano controller owners to get the full Korg Legacy software suite for $99.00. This includes:
Korg M1 with all of the "Expansion card" sounds
Korg WaveStation with all RAM/ROM banks
Korg Mono/Poly
Korg PolySix
Korg MS-20
Korg's MDE-X Effects Suite

The Wavestation alone has somewhere North of 900 presets. I've only scratched the surface - but some of the combi presets are just fantastic.

So ... for ~ $140... the full Korg Legacy suite, and a very useful controller. I suppose I could sell the controller - but am going to hang on to it, for travel.

There are enough threads posted into this section of KVR, asking "What should I buy?" or "What should my next synth be?" often -- with folks posting "Pick up the Korg M1" or "Korg Wavestation" or "Korg Mono/Poly" ... you get the idea. That I thought that posting this in "instruments" might be ok. In any case - mods... please move to MarketPlace if you think it belongs (being lost) there. :)

If you like old school sounds, the Korg ratio of Sound_Quality / CPU_Hit is hard to beat.

They are great synths.
I like using the Legacy Cell over others though.
Layering different sounds together with the M1 and WS can get some interesting combinations too.

bought the legacy collection a couple of weeks back.
It's an astonishing score given that a single, new release synth can easily cost the same. The sound quality is phenomenal.
I purchased it cos I scored an MS-20 Legacy controller for $200 AUD and immediately fell in love with the wavestation.
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

I did something similar last week. Bought a MicroKey 25 and did the $99 upgrade. I've wanted the Korg synths for a long time (already have their iPad apps) so I'm glad I finally bit the bullet. Along with the upgrade to Komplete 9 I suddenly have an insane amount of new sounds to work with.

Good point (and catch), Michael. The Legacy Collection includes all the Legacy Cell bits ( MS-20, Polysix and MDE-X) - and is included in the set. I'm only partway through the Wavestation presets (900+ is a boatload). Wish there was a way to tag favorites.. Anyway - took a quick tour of the Legacy Cell sounds... nice. It's going to take a load of time to go through these synths.

One other point (for the curious)..

You can demo the Legacy Synths for 30 days. (it took me a little less than an hour to realize that I was going to want to whole enchilada).

Go to korguser.net
In the upper right, click on New Users (in yellow).
Create an account.
On the Right, click on "Download for registered users".
Now you will see a list of all the legacy products.
Click on the synth to go to download page.

$99 for the Legacy collection is great value, though there are some other fantastic deals around -

Cakewalk Dimension Pro or Rapture for $19.99

XILS 3 LE for something like $15 last week

FXpansion BFD Eco for $25 at JRRshop

Image Line Harmor for $50

The Zinio free offer deals that keep cropping up

There are still no brainer deals around despite the demise of Audiomidi.

All good synths at a very good price.

+ Don't forget that if you have the Polysix + Ms-20 + Mde-X, the Legacy Cell will be available for free in your Korg account.

The Legacy Cell includes in a neat shell with macro knobs any dual combination of Ms-20 and/or Polysix + 4 Mde-X. One of the most underrated synth imho ( And we have a soundbank for it, as well as for all the korg analog edition synths, including the Monopoly Grand Bundle that includes more than 400 presets iirc   )

The Legacy Cell , especially in combination with Lotuzia's soundbanks, is awesome IMO. Same is true for the rest of the Legacy Collection.

As a huge fan of the Wavestation the corresponding plugin is a must have for me of course. I am currently rediscovering the M1 plugin BTW.

Also the MDE-X is a very nice collection of effects.
