I bought a few things from Audiomidi, but I haven't received any of these emails - so the guys from Audiomidi seem to be innocent...bjporter wrote:Yes I have in fact. I am going to just block all future Fxpansion emails now as SPAM. I am going to no longer accept "mail notifications" or "newsletters" from them at my Fx account.
If i need news on something I think I"ll just come to KVR. :/

Hey Vort3x, it's not fxpansion... some people havn't gotten it. I don't belong to Fxpansion, and I got the email.V0RT3X wrote:I am going to just block all future Fxpansion emails now as SPAM. I am going to no longer accept "mail notifications" or "newsletters" from them at my Fx account.

It's easy to send emails as someone else, just load up a php server, and use the mail function.

It occurred to me that these spammers aren't interested in selling a product but are doing this to trash FXpansions reputation. I've been spammed twice now and assume that these clowns have read the forum posts about this breach of security and are continuing the crank the handle. FXpansion need to let us know how our emails have been breached and fix this vulnerability. I won't have any confidence in them until this is done. Especially if the scammers are conducting a vendetta against FXpansions at our expense.

You have to understand that biznuss is biznuss, especially in the world of flub turbo. Anyone that would have a video like that is all in. They don't care HOW they get the buzz around, just as long as they GET the word around.

Looks like I spoke too soon - got the 2nd email today (straight into the spam folder, unlike the usual FXpansion newsletter). Never got the first one, which makes me worry if they're getting better at sh#t spraying...
But let's keep this thing in proportion - at the moment this is nothing more than a nuisance - a lot of people here have had a good laugh at Duff Turdo's (much catchier name
) expense when it's cropped up before, so I would have thought hardly anybody would have been daft enough(no offense to anyone that did, we're all rash occasionally
) to actually follow a link in one of these obviously fake emails.
But I'm detecting a bit of KVR hysteria in one or two of these postings...
All I'm saying is I'd hate to see FXpansion's business (or reputation) suffer as a result of this. They're doing all they can but this kind of thing can be pretty tricky to pin down and stamp out. They've assured us our account details haven't been compromised, which is the main worry with this kind of thing.
In the meantime we could amuse ourselves by thinking up more ridiculous nicknames, or dreaming up elaborate retribution fantasies - much more fun

Hiya,
Extremely sorry to hear that it is ongoing, despite promises I angrily extracted from DubTurbo and ClickBank last night to shut down the "rogue affiliate".
The spammer is stripping out fxpansion staff emails, so we're not seeing them. if you can send me one of the latest *with all headers intact* - don't just forward it, as that will strip the headers - we'll get useful IP address to trace this ratbag down.
send to: skot AT fxpansion DOT com.

I want to make it clear that I don't believe that fxpansion has spammed this. I think they are on the receiving end.
I don't give a hoot about receiving some spam email from 'Dick Turbo' because I just delete it!

The douchebag has shifted to a new Clickbank account - khatu - according to the latest one. Clickbank claims to have shut the realany account down but the form that lets you order his scammy guitar DVD still seems to be up, so I guess Clickbank is proving as ineffective as it usually is. However, as he's set up a second account, that is a violation of the Clickbank TOS.

Thanks Gamma-UT, your experience + insights dealing with the ways and means of Clickbank are much appreciated. I've bounced that out to all the relevant parties to act on.
Thanks also to everyone that has sent in email headers - I think we have enough to go on now, so we're currently cyber-probing around Toronto, Canada for where these guys live...

No problem. Although probing around these affiliate schemes always make me feel like taking a very long bath afterwards. It's an incredibly slimy business.SKoT_FX wrote:...dealing with the ways and means of Clickbank are much appreciated. I've bounced that out to all the relevant parties to act on.

If we took all the energy of lol-meme-creation and added it to the pointless-pyramid-scheme-wheel-spinnery of affiliate marketing, how long do you think it would take to figure out Fusion? Or go to Mars? Urgh!!!
That cat in the dustbin lid with glasses was pretty good tho.
