looks like a great product. If I didn't already have the Apogee Jam, I would get this. Looks like you got it right.

No worries, we find that users with newer iOS devices like the new iPad and iPhone 5 prefer the iRig HD. Being the first digital interface with native lightning connectivity and exclusive gear models inside of AmpliTube seem to be making iRig HD an obvious choice.

What makes it "HD"?

How's it compare to the Sonicport?

Looks like there's more than one Lightning interface now.

Sonic port is advertised as slightly cheaper 69 UK rather than 79 UK
Sonic port has more input options and has headphone monitoring on the devise (it's io, I to us just input)
Sonic port only seems to work with ios - irig hd is also a pc input device

If the sonic port also had a USB input (ie could be used as pc interface) I would say it had the edge on paper, but as things stand the irig hd would be more useful to me, just a bit unsure about not saving a headphone output on the irig...

It is a fully digital input. The sequel to iRig which was an analog input via the headphone jack. Hope that helps.

Oh, they're shipping? There's a lot of "process" to getting a Lightning interface out for sure.

Not yet, but shortly. Worth the wait, given the additional I/O.

Meh, Doesn't work on Mac devices, still isn't out for a reason like Peter already stated and you don't get free, EXCLUSIVE gear models inside of AmpliTube iOS and in the AmpliTube Custom Shop.

OH MAN! The IK tag team is at it again.

I believe Polaris20 feels the additional I/O is an important feature.

"Meh", aside from being an inappropriate statement for a company rep to say in a public forum is also sidestepping the issue by pumping up an unrelated feature.

Are you IK guys seriously crapping on Line6 publicly? Wow.

Digital input = HD?
If that's true then the Sonic Port is also HD. Right?
:uhuhuh:
"All generalizations are false".
"Don't quantize me bro"!

I'd wait a bit for Line 6 (and possibly others..). IKs products are known to be a bit shoddy, given the price range.

I don't care if it works on Macs, I have other interfaces for that. It'll be out soon, and since I already have an Apogee, I can wait. And the free exclusive models don't really mean any more than Line 6's POD app (not to mention both JamUp and Ampkit+ also have an available 5150 model). Additionally, the line input is very significant on a device this size, as is the headphone and 1/4" outputs.

Ain't competition grand? Yay capitalism!

I think the irig HD looks great too, and I'm sure it will do well. But it's a discussion forum, so I'm discussing comparable products.

iRig accepts line input as well, simple as that. No tag team, no "crapping" just stating facts as I have previously here. HD is the name of the product, it is a high quality, high definition input device. You can read the specs on our web site, but that wouldn't really be as much fun as twisting words here at KVR, I totally understand.

Competition is grand, I know we are seeing this happen in other manufacturers' own threads. Oh wait, it doesn't really but no biggie since there are those that see that we are simply here letting you know what our product is and what it does. Many appreciate it and hundreds of thousands consider our accessories and apps not shoddy in the least.

Hello Peter

When you say it accepts line inputs, is the impedance matched for a guitar or typical line input?

I think the iRig HD looks good, but I am really surprised it doesn't have a HD output, tracking delay the crucial part of any guitar input device, so it will be interesting to see how that works with a PC.
