Thank you for your wonderful contribution to this thread schnurloss... Since you're so quick to point out what makes a good producer and what makes a bad one, maybe you should share your music. Producers are responsible for the end product - doesn't matter how they got there.

And although it was already mentioned before, products that leverage iLok2 and eLicenser have not had the piracy issues that plague products that use just serial numbers. Not exactly difficult to understand why a developer would favor the dongle approach. I have both iLok2 and eLicenser and they've never once given me an issue or been inconvenient. Grow up and become a "real" producer.

Without elicenser and ilok i would feel i would miss out on so many great plugins. So let's just get back to topic and discuss Phalanx again. I for myself am not sure about the horizontal scrolling but we will see.

I don't get the Nexus comparisons. Phalanx seems nothing like Nexus to me.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

sorry, I will not join the dongle discussion, but I am glad to answer questions about Phalanx, if possible :)

trusampler wrote:Can Phalanx stack instruments as well?(trigger numerous instruments, on same midi channels at same time?) And as far as the library for it, whats the patch list looking like?
yes it can. If you want, you can trigger all 16 sample channels with one midi channel, while every of the 16 Phalanx channels can hold up to 2 samples (sample A and B) so basically you could trigger 32 samples at once with one midi note, and with a polyphony of 128.

trusampler wrote:Being that it's a vst sampler, can you give us some better specs as to what format it will accept, wav, aiff? Is this sampler going to integrate well with other sampler formats such as Kontakt .nki? Will it be able to accept these files, or all from scratch??
Phalanx can read .wav .aiff and of course the own Phalanx sample and preset formats
...ah yes and it can read Metrum presets and attack samples (for those who have a Metrum license)
Its not possible to load .nki files, I am sorry. Phalanx would need to be a 1:1 copy of Kontakts architecture, to be able to read Kontakt's presets.

Thanks

So, how's things? And most importantly: When?

Good business for the iLok factory then, 20000 dongles for 20000 Nexus'

except that Nexus doesn't use ilok
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Sounds like a cool little sampler for all kinds of one shot and drum samples.

The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Just watching the videos, it seems a lot of work has been put in it. And that it is capable of much much more than the *vehicle* you describe.

Actually I find it interesting, and tbh, in the samplers world, there seem to be very few alternatives to Kontakt, or Mach V 3. ( Though Halion had many features as well, and did not make it on the market, probably because of the lack of 3rd party libraries )

It seems that the ability for a sampler to propose a good/interesting factory library and get, or less, 3rd party support for additional content are really important criterias for the success of an instrument.

OK, that will make the guys in that other dongle factory mighty happy then :D

Probably building up their storage at the mo' awaiting the coming of Phalanx

BTW: "Samples are saved inside your song project file"

That can be good, but also a big Harddrive guzzler, if the same samples are used on several songs, and the samples are stored inside every song, that will lead to many duplicate files.
